00:00:00--> 00:00:00

Equality

00:00:01--> 00:00:02

is not from the Quran.

00:00:02--> 00:00:03

Equitability

00:00:04--> 00:00:05

is in the Quran,

00:00:05--> 00:00:06

but hierarchy

00:00:06--> 00:00:09

is the mandate of mankind in the Quran.

00:00:10--> 00:00:12

However, there's no absolute hierarchy.

00:00:13--> 00:00:14

There's no absolute hierarchy.

00:00:15--> 00:00:17

That even your parents, they have a rank,

00:00:17--> 00:00:21

but it's not absolute. In Surah Luqman, Allah

00:00:21--> 00:00:22

commands us to be excellent to them and

00:00:22--> 00:00:25

to follow them, but if they command us

00:00:25--> 00:00:26

to go against what Allah

00:00:27--> 00:00:28

revealed, Fadaatuliruma,

00:00:28--> 00:00:31

there's no authority here. The hierarchy is bypassed

00:00:31--> 00:00:32

by the ultimate

00:00:34--> 00:00:34

Lord,

00:00:35--> 00:00:37

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.

00:00:38--> 00:00:39

I remember I was on a plane once

00:00:39--> 00:00:40

reading Suramulk.

00:00:41--> 00:00:41

Allah

00:00:42--> 00:00:43

says,

00:00:48--> 00:00:50

Allah talks about the creation of flight,

00:00:51--> 00:00:53

that they're flying with wings that are

00:00:54--> 00:00:57

kept inwards and wings that are outstretched.

00:00:58--> 00:01:00

And as I'm reading it on the screen

00:01:00--> 00:01:00

of the plane,

00:01:01--> 00:01:03

there's the this plane had a back camera,

00:01:03--> 00:01:04

you know, the a380, they have a back

00:01:04--> 00:01:06

camera, and you can actually see the plane

00:01:06--> 00:01:07

and the wings outstretched

00:01:09--> 00:01:11

flying. Allah says, Nothing is holding it except

00:01:11--> 00:01:12

Allah.

00:01:13--> 00:01:13

Steel,

00:01:14--> 00:01:15

weighing tons

00:01:16--> 00:01:19

with people's overweight baggage. Imagine all this weight

00:01:19--> 00:01:21

and the plane takes off and it flies

00:01:21--> 00:01:23

with the permission of Allah Allah We begin

00:01:23--> 00:01:24

in the name of Allah

00:01:26--> 00:01:28

and we request praises and blessings upon Rasulullah

00:01:33--> 00:01:36

May Allah accept our deeds. Amin.

00:01:36--> 00:01:37

The 24th

00:01:37--> 00:01:38

night of Ramadan.

00:01:41--> 00:01:42

Less than

00:01:43--> 00:01:44

a week to go or a week to

00:01:44--> 00:01:45

go.

00:01:46--> 00:01:47

May Allah

00:01:47--> 00:01:48

bless what remains.

00:01:49--> 00:01:51

Ameel. So what do you guys think about

00:01:51--> 00:01:52

last night?

00:01:53--> 00:01:54

It was the night?

00:01:55--> 00:01:57

What's the sentiment? What's the feeling?

00:01:59--> 00:02:01

Maybe because we took the eye of hope

00:02:02--> 00:02:03

from Surah Zumr,

00:02:03--> 00:02:05

and then we took the eye of Istikamah

00:02:06--> 00:02:07

from Surah Fussilat.

00:02:08--> 00:02:10

It feels like it must be the night,

00:02:11--> 00:02:11

May Allah

00:02:13--> 00:02:14

grant us little qadr.

00:02:15--> 00:02:18

Irrespective brothers and sisters, the prophet sallallahu alaihi

00:02:18--> 00:02:19

wa sallam even though

00:02:20--> 00:02:23

we have reports of him having had a

00:02:23--> 00:02:25

sign of when Laylatul Qadr was

00:02:26--> 00:02:29

during his time, he remained in a tikaf

00:02:29--> 00:02:30

till the end of the month.

00:02:32--> 00:02:32

So

00:02:33--> 00:02:33

irrespective

00:02:33--> 00:02:34

of our feeling

00:02:36--> 00:02:38

and even some dreams that have been interpreted

00:02:38--> 00:02:39

for this year

00:02:40--> 00:02:42

because we've had some interpretations.

00:02:46--> 00:02:48

As a life on air,

00:02:49--> 00:02:50

Got a lot of your hamukkallah.

00:02:54--> 00:02:56

Even in light of some dreams that have

00:02:56--> 00:02:57

been interpreted for this year.

00:02:58--> 00:03:00

Regarding when Laylatul Qadr will be, and I

00:03:00--> 00:03:01

won't tell you what the interpretations

00:03:02--> 00:03:02

are.

00:03:03--> 00:03:04

So that it keeps you

00:03:06--> 00:03:06

calibrated

00:03:08--> 00:03:09

In respect of those,

00:03:09--> 00:03:10

interpretations,

00:03:10--> 00:03:13

we still need to continue every night, because

00:03:13--> 00:03:14

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

00:03:15--> 00:03:17

is worshiped during every night, and this is

00:03:17--> 00:03:18

from the Tarabi of the Sharia.

00:03:20--> 00:03:22

We don't see this only was related to

00:03:22--> 00:03:24

Al Qadr. Even with the hour on Jumu'ah

00:03:24--> 00:03:27

in which a dua is not left unanswered.

00:03:28--> 00:03:29

We don't know the exact hour.

00:03:30--> 00:03:32

We told to search for it.

00:03:32--> 00:03:34

So this is from the tarubi of the

00:03:34--> 00:03:36

sharia, that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants us

00:03:36--> 00:03:37

to gain more.

00:03:38--> 00:03:41

And if you do all 10 days, or

00:03:41--> 00:03:43

if you make dua during every hour on

00:03:43--> 00:03:45

the day of Jum'ah, then you will catch

00:03:45--> 00:03:46

the hour

00:03:46--> 00:03:48

and you will be rewarded for all the

00:03:48--> 00:03:50

other hours, and you will catch the night

00:03:51--> 00:03:52

and you will be rewarded for all the

00:03:52--> 00:03:54

nights. So we see the Tarbiyyah in the

00:03:54--> 00:03:56

Sharia. There's a Tarbiyyah, how we raise our

00:03:56--> 00:03:59

children, the Sharia raises our Ima.

00:04:00--> 00:04:01

So irrespective,

00:04:01--> 00:04:03

please remain stationed insha'Allah

00:04:03--> 00:04:05

and keep trying your best.

00:04:05--> 00:04:08

Tonight we continued with the potency of Maqan

00:04:08--> 00:04:09

Ayat

00:04:09--> 00:04:10

with iman building,

00:04:11--> 00:04:13

and we completed Surah for Silat

00:04:14--> 00:04:14

as,

00:04:14--> 00:04:16

we heard in Sheikh Suhayb's recitation,

00:04:17--> 00:04:18

and then Ashura,

00:04:19--> 00:04:22

and then a zukruf, and a dukhan as

00:04:22--> 00:04:22

we heard

00:04:23--> 00:04:23

in,

00:04:24--> 00:04:24

Hafidhambala's

00:04:25--> 00:04:25

recitation,

00:04:26--> 00:04:27

and then,

00:04:27--> 00:04:28

Al Jathiyah.

00:04:29--> 00:04:31

We made a start on Al Jathiyah,

00:04:31--> 00:04:33

in tonight's recitation.

00:04:35--> 00:04:37

In terms of Surah Ashura,

00:04:38--> 00:04:41

we gave it sometime last night, so we'll

00:04:41--> 00:04:43

go straight into Surah Ashura.

00:04:44--> 00:04:47

Ashura is again from the Hawamim. Remember that

00:04:47--> 00:04:49

discussion about the Hawamim, the surahs that begin

00:04:49--> 00:04:50

with hamim,

00:04:50--> 00:04:52

hamim, hamim. We heard this today.

00:04:53--> 00:04:55

Every surah that began, began with hamim, and

00:04:55--> 00:04:57

there is still more to come.

00:04:58--> 00:04:59

A Makkan Surah,

00:04:59--> 00:05:01

as we discussed earlier,

00:05:02--> 00:05:05

consisting of 53 ayaat, just 53 ayaat.

00:05:06--> 00:05:08

And it is called Ashura

00:05:09--> 00:05:11

due to a verse in it

00:05:11--> 00:05:14

in which Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala describes a

00:05:14--> 00:05:15

praiseworthy

00:05:15--> 00:05:16

act

00:05:16--> 00:05:19

of the first generation of believers. The Sahaba

00:05:19--> 00:05:21

radiAllahu anhu Majima'in with their leader,

00:05:22--> 00:05:24

Muhammad ibn Abdullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. That

00:05:24--> 00:05:27

Allah loved this act, and Allah is pivoting

00:05:27--> 00:05:29

this act for all of us.

00:05:29--> 00:05:31

That it is this act that will lead

00:05:31--> 00:05:31

to greatness,

00:05:32--> 00:05:33

and through

00:05:33--> 00:05:35

it we will plant the seeds

00:05:36--> 00:05:37

of proactive progress,

00:05:38--> 00:05:40

and that is the act of Shura,

00:05:42--> 00:05:43

mutual consultation.

00:05:44--> 00:05:45

Allah says,

00:05:46--> 00:05:48

When he's praising the believers, he says their

00:05:48--> 00:05:51

amr, their manner, their way, their norm, their

00:05:51--> 00:05:52

mandate

00:05:52--> 00:05:53

is surah.

00:05:54--> 00:05:56

They don't make a decision except

00:05:57--> 00:05:59

after mutual consultation. Allah loves this.

00:06:01--> 00:06:02

So a whole surah

00:06:03--> 00:06:04

is named

00:06:04--> 00:06:05

after

00:06:05--> 00:06:07

this process of mutual consultation.

00:06:08--> 00:06:09

Subhanallah.

00:06:09--> 00:06:11

And for those who are wondering if the

00:06:11--> 00:06:13

Quran has lessons on management, then here you

00:06:13--> 00:06:14

go. An entire

00:06:15--> 00:06:17

surah named after

00:06:17--> 00:06:18

a management mandate,

00:06:19--> 00:06:20

mutual consultation,

00:06:20--> 00:06:21

shura.

00:06:22--> 00:06:24

And even the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,

00:06:24--> 00:06:26

and no doubt he was praiseworthy for this,

00:06:26--> 00:06:28

because this came from him,

00:06:28--> 00:06:29

initially.

00:06:32--> 00:06:34

We know during the battle of Badr, which

00:06:34--> 00:06:36

wasn't meant to be a battle,

00:06:36--> 00:06:38

it was meant to be a redemption,

00:06:39--> 00:06:41

because all the Muslims wealth was usurped and

00:06:41--> 00:06:41

taken

00:06:42--> 00:06:44

after they were kicked out of Makkah. They

00:06:44--> 00:06:44

were persecuted

00:06:45--> 00:06:47

to eventually leave, and what they left behind

00:06:48--> 00:06:48

was usurped.

00:06:50--> 00:06:52

So Badr was meant to be a redemption

00:06:52--> 00:06:52

exercise.

00:06:54--> 00:06:56

That's all. Not a battle. And that's why

00:06:56--> 00:06:58

the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam didn't leave

00:06:58--> 00:06:59

with the call

00:06:59--> 00:07:00

that was known

00:07:01--> 00:07:03

if a call to war, or if a

00:07:03--> 00:07:03

war was

00:07:04--> 00:07:05

anticipated.

00:07:06--> 00:07:08

And he went with a number that didn't

00:07:08--> 00:07:09

denote any

00:07:10--> 00:07:12

idea of a war being anticipated

00:07:13--> 00:07:15

or an attack being intended, but rather a

00:07:15--> 00:07:16

redemption.

00:07:17--> 00:07:18

But Abu Sufyan,

00:07:19--> 00:07:22

he caught on to what was going on,

00:07:22--> 00:07:24

he sent an urgent message to Makkah,

00:07:25--> 00:07:26

and he sent it in such a dramatic

00:07:26--> 00:07:29

way that even when the Messenger entered Makkah,

00:07:29--> 00:07:30

he had to enter in a manner that

00:07:30--> 00:07:31

created panic

00:07:32--> 00:07:33

with blood,

00:07:34--> 00:07:35

coming out,

00:07:35--> 00:07:37

meaning blood being seen

00:07:37--> 00:07:40

and shouts being made from the distance,

00:07:41--> 00:07:43

the distant yards to Makkah all the way

00:07:43--> 00:07:46

into Makkah until everybody gathered to be told

00:07:46--> 00:07:48

your wealth has been taken, meaning this kind

00:07:48--> 00:07:50

of urgency was made, they had no choice

00:07:50--> 00:07:50

but to

00:07:51--> 00:07:54

go out and they went out for war.

00:07:54--> 00:07:56

You see the wealth of the Quraysh

00:07:57--> 00:07:59

was considered sacred wealth in the lands of

00:07:59--> 00:07:59

Arabia.

00:08:00--> 00:08:02

Arabia had bandits,

00:08:03--> 00:08:04

desert bandits.

00:08:05--> 00:08:07

These bandits would hide behind sand dunes etcetera.

00:08:07--> 00:08:09

They would have their places and they would

00:08:09--> 00:08:12

steal from the caravans of the desert, except

00:08:12--> 00:08:14

the Quraishi wealth. This is wealth no one

00:08:14--> 00:08:17

would touch. They believed it was protected

00:08:18--> 00:08:19

by something

00:08:20--> 00:08:23

beyond their means, especially after what Allah did

00:08:23--> 00:08:25

to the Kaaba and Abraha, or for the

00:08:25--> 00:08:27

Kaaba when Abraha decided to come and destroy

00:08:27--> 00:08:28

the Kaaba.

00:08:28--> 00:08:30

And here you have this whisper

00:08:31--> 00:08:32

amidst the Arabs

00:08:33--> 00:08:33

of Arabia

00:08:34--> 00:08:35

that a people

00:08:35--> 00:08:38

have come to take the most prized wealth

00:08:38--> 00:08:40

of the Quraysh. And no doubt, the Quraysh

00:08:40--> 00:08:43

had their most prized wealth in this caravan,

00:08:43--> 00:08:44

heading for trade.

00:08:45--> 00:08:47

And if the Quraysh didn't retaliate, this would

00:08:47--> 00:08:49

lead to all sorts of problems. It's psychology,

00:08:49--> 00:08:51

right? If it is known that this happened,

00:08:51--> 00:08:53

that a people attempted it, and they were

00:08:53--> 00:08:55

successful, or there was no retribution,

00:08:56--> 00:08:58

this would plant thoughts in people's minds.

00:08:58--> 00:09:01

Even here, when the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam

00:09:01--> 00:09:02

was faced with this dilemma,

00:09:03--> 00:09:05

he didn't just bring the Muhajirun and Ansar

00:09:05--> 00:09:06

onto the battlefield.

00:09:07--> 00:09:10

He entered them into the process of shura,

00:09:10--> 00:09:11

mutual consultation.

00:09:12--> 00:09:12

And

00:09:13--> 00:09:16

with a greater perspective on the voice of

00:09:16--> 00:09:18

the Ansar and the leaders of the Ansar,

00:09:22--> 00:09:24

and those from the seniors of the Ansar.

00:09:25--> 00:09:28

And they were trying to come to terms

00:09:28--> 00:09:30

with the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam's line

00:09:30--> 00:09:31

of conversation,

00:09:32--> 00:09:33

his discourse,

00:09:34--> 00:09:34

the manner

00:09:35--> 00:09:36

of his asking,

00:09:36--> 00:09:37

until they

00:09:38--> 00:09:40

deduced from the collective

00:09:40--> 00:09:43

interaction of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam that

00:09:43--> 00:09:46

you Rasulullah, O Messenger of Allah, it is

00:09:46--> 00:09:47

as if you are

00:09:47--> 00:09:48

seeking

00:09:49--> 00:09:51

our thoughts here, you are seeking

00:09:51--> 00:09:55

our feelings here, our ideas here, and they

00:09:55--> 00:09:57

famously said to him that we will not

00:09:57--> 00:09:59

be to you like the followers of Musa.

00:09:59--> 00:10:00

When it was said to them, go, they

00:10:00--> 00:10:01

said to

00:10:03--> 00:10:05

Musa, you and your lord go and fight.

00:10:06--> 00:10:08

In we will stay behind. We will sit

00:10:08--> 00:10:10

here and wait for you to come back.

00:10:10--> 00:10:12

Rather, if you tell us to go, we

00:10:12--> 00:10:14

will go with you, you Rasoolullah.

00:10:14--> 00:10:16

But this was sure, that even the prophet

00:10:16--> 00:10:19

sallallahu alaihi wasallam did this, and Abu Bakr

00:10:19--> 00:10:22

did this. In fact, Umar would never allow

00:10:22--> 00:10:22

the companions

00:10:23--> 00:10:25

to settle outside of Madinah, and he would

00:10:25--> 00:10:27

bring together the Muhajirun and the Ansar.

00:10:28--> 00:10:31

And during COVID, you heard the famous narration

00:10:31--> 00:10:33

of Umar. It was well spread

00:10:33--> 00:10:35

and well shared. And in the age of

00:10:35--> 00:10:36

social media,

00:10:36--> 00:10:39

I'm confident that you came across it, where

00:10:39--> 00:10:40

Umar was heading

00:10:41--> 00:10:42

to a place to sham,

00:10:43--> 00:10:44

to the best of my knowledge,

00:10:45--> 00:10:47

and reports of a plague

00:10:48--> 00:10:49

came out of that region.

00:10:50--> 00:10:51

And Umar stopped

00:10:52--> 00:10:53

his caravan,

00:10:54--> 00:10:54

and

00:10:56--> 00:10:59

he entered them into a process of shurgh.

00:11:01--> 00:11:03

And eventually he decided to go back,

00:11:04--> 00:11:05

and when he decided to go back someone

00:11:05--> 00:11:06

said to him,

00:11:08--> 00:11:10

O leader of the believers,

00:11:10--> 00:11:12

are you running away from the Qadr of

00:11:12--> 00:11:12

Allah?

00:11:13--> 00:11:15

And he famously said,

00:11:15--> 00:11:16

Yes,

00:11:16--> 00:11:18

I'm running away from the Qadr of Allah,

00:11:19--> 00:11:20

but to the Qadr of Allah.

00:11:21--> 00:11:23

From the firk of Umar ibn Khattab radiAllahu,

00:11:23--> 00:11:25

and he goes, The bhutta Qadr of Allah.

00:11:25--> 00:11:27

You're taking the means, it's the kadrah of

00:11:27--> 00:11:29

Allah as well. This is taking the means.

00:11:29--> 00:11:32

And then someone from the companions who was

00:11:32--> 00:11:33

away came and said,

00:11:34--> 00:11:36

I've heard the discussion and I have a

00:11:36--> 00:11:38

narration from the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. And

00:11:38--> 00:11:40

he prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said that if

00:11:40--> 00:11:42

you are traveling to a place in which

00:11:42--> 00:11:43

there is a plague, then the people from

00:11:43--> 00:11:45

outside should not enter, and the people from

00:11:45--> 00:11:46

inside should not depart.

00:11:47--> 00:11:48

So Umar SubhanAllah,

00:11:49--> 00:11:52

his conclusion, Umar ibn Khattab radiAllahu an, his

00:11:52--> 00:11:53

conclusion

00:11:54--> 00:11:55

from the shura,

00:11:55--> 00:11:56

mutual consultation,

00:11:57--> 00:11:59

was true to the teaching of the prophet

00:11:59--> 00:12:01

sallallahu alaihi wa sallam before he passed away,

00:12:01--> 00:12:04

sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. So shura, my dear

00:12:04--> 00:12:05

brothers and sisters in Islam, this is the

00:12:05--> 00:12:08

main reason why this surah is named Ashura,

00:12:08--> 00:12:10

and Allah is praising the Sahaba

00:12:10--> 00:12:13

for this act. And this is something we

00:12:13--> 00:12:14

need to bring into our homes,

00:12:14--> 00:12:17

into our educational institutions,

00:12:17--> 00:12:19

into our masajid.

00:12:21--> 00:12:24

Masha'Allah. This family friendly masjid as we hear

00:12:24--> 00:12:25

for most nights of Ramadan,

00:12:26--> 00:12:27

I can testify that they have

00:12:28--> 00:12:29

the process of shura,

00:12:29--> 00:12:31

Looks like the concord is taking off there.

00:12:32--> 00:12:34

They have the process of Shura.

00:12:34--> 00:12:36

Allah bless them.

00:12:36--> 00:12:39

But in some masaajid, they treat it as

00:12:39--> 00:12:39

a fiefdom,

00:12:41--> 00:12:41

as somebody's

00:12:43--> 00:12:44

village, as somebody's kariyah,

00:12:45--> 00:12:47

then they need the ashabul kariyah, as we

00:12:47--> 00:12:48

learnt about in Surah Yaseen.

00:12:49--> 00:12:51

And this is incorrect, it's the house of

00:12:51--> 00:12:51

Allah

00:12:53--> 00:12:56

Those who are responsible over it, they are

00:12:56--> 00:12:57

only custodians

00:12:57--> 00:13:00

of the house of Allah. And their mandate

00:13:00--> 00:13:01

is to implement

00:13:01--> 00:13:04

the process of Allah, and the process of

00:13:04--> 00:13:06

Allah is shura. And we've seen this in

00:13:06--> 00:13:07

the masjid even with the time of Qiyam,

00:13:07--> 00:13:08

masha'Allah.

00:13:08--> 00:13:11

The idea was floated. When should Qiyam be?

00:13:11--> 00:13:14

What time? What's possible? What isn't possible?

00:13:14--> 00:13:16

What's palatable to the majority?

00:13:17--> 00:13:19

Nobody should say this is bidi'a now democracy,

00:13:19--> 00:13:21

etcetera. Now this is shura,

00:13:21--> 00:13:22

and there's many processes

00:13:23--> 00:13:25

to conclude on the shura. But shura is

00:13:25--> 00:13:28

definitely different to a democracy because with the

00:13:28--> 00:13:28

shura,

00:13:29--> 00:13:31

voices are aired, but the amir makes a

00:13:31--> 00:13:33

decision, and his decision might go against the

00:13:33--> 00:13:34

the voice of the majority as long as

00:13:34--> 00:13:37

he's not being oppressive, his reason for it

00:13:37--> 00:13:37

is not personal,

00:13:38--> 00:13:40

his reason for it is a greater maslah

00:13:40--> 00:13:42

that he in his position

00:13:42--> 00:13:43

has ascertained,

00:13:43--> 00:13:45

then this is part and parcel of Surah.

00:13:45--> 00:13:47

Anyway, we can have a whole discussion on

00:13:47--> 00:13:50

on Surah. This is Surah Ashura.

00:13:51--> 00:13:54

Some of the chosen verses for tonight, no

00:13:54--> 00:13:55

doubt, verse number 1.

00:14:12--> 00:14:14

Tatafarrakufi Allah says, He, Allah,

00:14:14--> 00:14:16

has ordained for you of religion

00:14:17--> 00:14:19

what He enjoined upon nuh

00:14:19--> 00:14:21

and that which he revealed to you, o

00:14:21--> 00:14:21

Muhammad,

00:14:22--> 00:14:24

and that which he enjoined upon Ibrahim,

00:14:25--> 00:14:27

and Musa, and Risa

00:14:27--> 00:14:30

to establish the religion and not to be

00:14:30--> 00:14:31

divided therein.

00:14:32--> 00:14:34

Establish the law of Allah, and do not

00:14:34--> 00:14:35

be divided therein.

00:14:36--> 00:14:38

And this is also part and parcel of

00:14:38--> 00:14:39

the ideas of surah,

00:14:39--> 00:14:42

that when you conclude on the surah, the

00:14:42--> 00:14:44

decision should be based on what Allah

00:14:45--> 00:14:47

has established as his deen,

00:14:48--> 00:14:49

and do not be divided

00:14:50--> 00:14:52

on that which Allah has established as his

00:14:52--> 00:14:54

deen. And previously, we've spoken about this idea

00:14:54--> 00:14:55

of

00:14:56--> 00:14:57

people

00:14:58--> 00:14:59

chasing the idea

00:15:00--> 00:15:01

of being united upon falsehood.

00:15:02--> 00:15:04

That if the truth can't unite us, let

00:15:04--> 00:15:06

the falsehood unite us. And this is not

00:15:06--> 00:15:06

from the deen.

00:15:07--> 00:15:09

This is a mandate that

00:15:09--> 00:15:10

necessitates a division.

00:15:14--> 00:15:15

But when something is true to Qal Allah

00:15:15--> 00:15:17

and Qalar Rasool,

00:15:17--> 00:15:19

but it goes against my wish and your

00:15:19--> 00:15:21

wish and the decision has been made,

00:15:22--> 00:15:24

then we shouldn't be divided therein.

00:15:24--> 00:15:26

Because it is it is not something from

00:15:26--> 00:15:27

outside the realm that Allah

00:15:29--> 00:15:29

has established

00:15:30--> 00:15:31

as his Deen.

00:15:32--> 00:15:35

So again, even though this is not directly

00:15:35--> 00:15:37

a verse regarding Shura, but it is connected

00:15:37--> 00:15:38

to the idea of Shura,

00:15:39--> 00:15:40

That this is how the Muslims need to

00:15:40--> 00:15:41

operate.

00:15:41--> 00:15:43

And we also learn from this verse

00:15:45--> 00:15:47

that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has many messengers,

00:15:48--> 00:15:49

messages, and we've heard in previous nights in

00:15:49--> 00:15:50

the recitation,

00:15:51--> 00:15:52

Allah says,

00:15:53--> 00:15:55

messengers that Allah has told us about.

00:15:58--> 00:16:00

Messengers that Allah hasn't told us about.

00:16:01--> 00:16:03

But we learned that from the messengers, there

00:16:03--> 00:16:04

are ranks as well.

00:16:06--> 00:16:08

And above the rank of the prophets are

00:16:08--> 00:16:09

the messengers,

00:16:10--> 00:16:12

and above the ranks of the messengers are

00:16:12--> 00:16:12

the

00:16:13--> 00:16:15

the prophets of absolute resolve.

00:16:16--> 00:16:18

And the prophets of absolute resolve are mentioned

00:16:18--> 00:16:19

in this verse.

00:16:20--> 00:16:21

Ibrahim,

00:16:22--> 00:16:22

Musa,

00:16:23--> 00:16:26

Isa, and no doubt Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa

00:16:26--> 00:16:28

sallam is within this. And before this, Allah

00:16:28--> 00:16:29

says

00:16:31--> 00:16:33

These are the prophets of absolute resolve.

00:16:34--> 00:16:35

They have a status above the rest of

00:16:35--> 00:16:37

the messengers because they test

00:16:38--> 00:16:40

were of a level greater.

00:16:41--> 00:16:43

These are the 5 messengers of absolute resolve.

00:16:44--> 00:16:46

And we also learn from this

00:16:47--> 00:16:48

that the legacy Allah

00:16:49--> 00:16:51

revealed to Nuh, which is the legacy of

00:16:51--> 00:16:54

Nubuwa, it was transferred from his shoulders

00:16:54--> 00:16:57

to Messengers after him until Ibrahim,

00:16:58--> 00:17:00

and Messengers after him until Musa,

00:17:00--> 00:17:04

and messengers after him until Isa, and messengers

00:17:04--> 00:17:07

after him until Muhammad ibn Abdullah sallallahu alaihi

00:17:07--> 00:17:07

wasallam.

00:17:08--> 00:17:10

But after him, no messenger to come. Remember

00:17:10--> 00:17:12

my lesson to you the other night, the

00:17:12--> 00:17:14

solution for humanity is the ummah of Muhammad,

00:17:15--> 00:17:18

because after Muhammad, Allah transferred this legacy,

00:17:18--> 00:17:20

not from the shoulders of 1 man to

00:17:20--> 00:17:22

the shoulders of another man, but the shoulders

00:17:22--> 00:17:24

of 1 man to the collective shoulders of

00:17:25--> 00:17:25

Umma.

00:17:28--> 00:17:30

This is why you're the best of all

00:17:30--> 00:17:31

nations.

00:17:32--> 00:17:32

Okay.

00:17:34--> 00:17:36

When we look in another verse in Surah

00:17:36--> 00:17:36

Luqman,

00:17:37--> 00:17:39

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,

00:17:54--> 00:17:55

Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala,

00:17:56--> 00:17:58

when he establishes for us

00:17:58--> 00:18:01

the station of our parents, and by the

00:18:01--> 00:18:04

way, the Quran from its beginning till its

00:18:04--> 00:18:06

end establishes the process of hierarchy,

00:18:07--> 00:18:08

Equality

00:18:08--> 00:18:09

is not from the Quran.

00:18:10--> 00:18:10

Equitability

00:18:11--> 00:18:12

is in the Quran,

00:18:13--> 00:18:14

but hierarchy

00:18:14--> 00:18:17

is the mandate of mankind in the Quran.

00:18:17--> 00:18:19

However, there's no absolute hierarchy.

00:18:20--> 00:18:22

There's no absolute hierarchy.

00:18:23--> 00:18:25

That even your parents, they have a rank,

00:18:25--> 00:18:26

but it's not absolute.

00:18:27--> 00:18:29

In Surah Luqman, Allah commands us to be

00:18:29--> 00:18:31

excellent to them and to follow them. But

00:18:31--> 00:18:33

if they command us to go against what

00:18:33--> 00:18:34

Allah

00:18:35--> 00:18:37

revealed, Fada Tuhr Umah, there's no authority here.

00:18:37--> 00:18:39

The hierarchy is not recognized

00:18:39--> 00:18:42

or the hierarchy is bypassed by the ultimate

00:18:44--> 00:18:44

Lord,

00:18:46--> 00:18:47

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

00:18:48--> 00:18:51

or the ultimate elevated high one. Allah

00:18:52--> 00:18:53

the lord of the wells, Allah

00:18:54--> 00:18:56

You follow Allah

00:18:56--> 00:18:58

even if it means disobeying what your parents

00:18:58--> 00:19:01

are saying. So we have a hierarchy, but

00:19:01--> 00:19:02

it's not an absolute hierarchy.

00:19:03--> 00:19:05

But the point from this verse in Surah

00:19:05--> 00:19:06

Luqman is what

00:19:08--> 00:19:09

and I'm gonna tie it back to Surah

00:19:09--> 00:19:10

Surah.

00:19:10--> 00:19:12

Allah says in Surah Luqman,

00:19:16--> 00:19:19

follow the way of those who turn back

00:19:19--> 00:19:20

to me in repentance.

00:19:21--> 00:19:23

Follow the way of those who turn back

00:19:23--> 00:19:24

to me in repentance.

00:19:24--> 00:19:27

In Surah Surah, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

00:19:28--> 00:19:30

says, after he mentions the 5 prophets of

00:19:30--> 00:19:31

absolute resolve,

00:19:44--> 00:19:45

This is the same word.

00:19:46--> 00:19:47

One in Surah Alukman,

00:19:48--> 00:19:50

one in Ashura. What is Allah subhanahu wa

00:19:50--> 00:19:53

ta'ala saying here? Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is

00:19:53--> 00:19:54

saying here,

00:19:54--> 00:19:57

difficult for those who associate others with Allah

00:19:57--> 00:19:59

is that to which you are calling them

00:19:59--> 00:19:59

to, oh Muhammad.

00:20:00--> 00:20:03

Those who associate partners with Allah, it's difficult

00:20:03--> 00:20:03

for them

00:20:05--> 00:20:06

to comprehend

00:20:06--> 00:20:08

and understand and follow what you're calling them

00:20:08--> 00:20:09

to, which is tawhid.

00:20:10--> 00:20:12

Allah says Allah chooses for himself whom he

00:20:12--> 00:20:13

wills,

00:20:13--> 00:20:15

and he guides to himself whoever

00:20:16--> 00:20:19

turns back to him. So whoever turns back

00:20:19--> 00:20:21

to him, Allah guides to Allah.

00:20:22--> 00:20:24

Our scholars have deduced from this.

00:20:26--> 00:20:27

That in Islam,

00:20:28--> 00:20:29

we follow the command of Allah,

00:20:30--> 00:20:33

and we follow the teaching of Rasulullah sallallahu

00:20:33--> 00:20:34

alaihi wa sallam,

00:20:34--> 00:20:36

and we follow the way of the Sahaba

00:20:36--> 00:20:38

radiAllahu anhu ajumayeen.

00:20:39--> 00:20:41

Why they are the ones who fit the

00:20:41--> 00:20:43

category of those who

00:20:45--> 00:20:46

turn back to Allah.

00:20:46--> 00:20:48

Because Allah says in Ashura,

00:20:49--> 00:20:50

Allah

00:20:51--> 00:20:54

chooses for himself whom he wills, and he

00:20:54--> 00:20:56

guides to himself whoever turns back to him.

00:20:56--> 00:20:58

The Sahaba turned back to Allah when they

00:20:58--> 00:21:00

accepted the message of the messenger.

00:21:01--> 00:21:02

In Surah Luqman,

00:21:02--> 00:21:04

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said

00:21:05--> 00:21:07

what did he say in Surah Luqman? He

00:21:07--> 00:21:08

said

00:21:09--> 00:21:10

follow

00:21:11--> 00:21:13

the way of those who turn back to

00:21:13--> 00:21:13

Allah.

00:21:14--> 00:21:17

So putting these two verses together, the scholars

00:21:17--> 00:21:18

have deduced

00:21:19--> 00:21:20

that following the Sahaba

00:21:21--> 00:21:22

is from the truth,

00:21:23--> 00:21:23

especially

00:21:24--> 00:21:28

the rightly guided caliphs from them. Abu Bakr,

00:21:28--> 00:21:29

umar, uthman,

00:21:30--> 00:21:32

uaali, radhiallahu anhu, ajumayin.

00:21:32--> 00:21:34

And in the hadith of the Prophet

00:21:35--> 00:21:36

he said,

00:21:36--> 00:21:39

after me you will see much fitan.

00:21:45--> 00:21:46

You're gonna see much fitan,

00:21:47--> 00:21:47

much differences,

00:21:48--> 00:21:49

much disputes.

00:21:49--> 00:21:51

He said, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,

00:21:52--> 00:21:55

It's compulsory upon you. To follow my Sunnah.

00:21:58--> 00:22:01

And the sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs.

00:22:03--> 00:22:04

Bite onto

00:22:04--> 00:22:07

these ways with your mawla teeth, meaning hold

00:22:07--> 00:22:08

steadfast onto it.

00:22:09--> 00:22:10

Don't give up on it.

00:22:11--> 00:22:12

So here at the beginning of Surah Surah,

00:22:12--> 00:22:15

Allah establishes from us a fiqhi mandate or

00:22:15--> 00:22:15

a

00:22:16--> 00:22:18

mandate, a mandate of jurisprudence methodology

00:22:19--> 00:22:21

that we take our deen from the Quran

00:22:21--> 00:22:23

and the sunnah and the way of the

00:22:23--> 00:22:24

companions.

00:22:26--> 00:22:27

Verse number 2,

00:22:27--> 00:22:30

the ultimate verse on tawakkul. We've spoken about

00:22:30--> 00:22:31

tawakkul throughout our series.

00:22:32--> 00:22:35

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says that imam Suhayb

00:22:35--> 00:22:37

recited it, and he even repeated it, it

00:22:37--> 00:22:37

was beautiful.

00:22:44--> 00:22:46

And this these were the words of Yusuf

00:22:46--> 00:22:48

alaihi salam after he was tested for 5

00:22:48--> 00:22:49

for 5 decades.

00:22:50--> 00:22:53

Conservative figures. I'm putting you 5 decades at

00:22:53--> 00:22:53

a conservative

00:22:57--> 00:22:58

metric. He says

00:23:00--> 00:23:01

he uses the word latif

00:23:02--> 00:23:03

After being tested,

00:23:04--> 00:23:05

bottom of a well,

00:23:06--> 00:23:06

abducted

00:23:07--> 00:23:08

away from his father,

00:23:08--> 00:23:11

smashed around in the slave markets of Egypt,

00:23:11--> 00:23:13

put into a home of idolatry and no

00:23:13--> 00:23:14

morals,

00:23:14--> 00:23:17

locked in a room with a woman who

00:23:17--> 00:23:19

intended him, and then she announced that he

00:23:19--> 00:23:20

tried to rape her,

00:23:21--> 00:23:22

and then thrown into prison

00:23:23--> 00:23:24

without due diligence,

00:23:25--> 00:23:25

due justice

00:23:26--> 00:23:28

for almost 10 years.

00:23:28--> 00:23:31

Test after test after test after test after

00:23:31--> 00:23:31

test.

00:23:32--> 00:23:34

At the end of it all, he says

00:23:34--> 00:23:36

indeed my lord is subtle and gentle with

00:23:36--> 00:23:37

whom he wills.

00:23:38--> 00:23:39

Allah says in this verse here,

00:23:44--> 00:23:45

And as we sit here and think of

00:23:45--> 00:23:47

the people of Ghazalallahi, they are reading these

00:23:47--> 00:23:49

verses I am sharing with you.

00:23:50--> 00:23:51

They are reading these verses.

00:23:52--> 00:23:53

Allah

00:23:54--> 00:23:56

This is testimony from Allah.

00:23:57--> 00:23:58

Allah is telling you in the form of

00:23:58--> 00:24:01

a narrative how it is. Allah is subtle

00:24:01--> 00:24:02

with his servants.

00:24:03--> 00:24:05

Allah is gentle with his servants.

00:24:05--> 00:24:07

Allah is forthcoming with his servants.

00:24:10--> 00:24:12

He gives food and sustenance to whom he

00:24:12--> 00:24:14

wills, and sustenance means a lot of things,

00:24:14--> 00:24:15

children,

00:24:15--> 00:24:16

health, wealth,

00:24:17--> 00:24:18

financial standing,

00:24:18--> 00:24:20

material well-being,

00:24:20--> 00:24:21

and so on and so forth.

00:24:23--> 00:24:25

Sustenance is iman, as well.

00:24:26--> 00:24:27

Tawakkul

00:24:27--> 00:24:29

is sustenance as well.

00:24:30--> 00:24:31

SubhanAllah.

00:24:32--> 00:24:33

Look at the names of Allah that he

00:24:33--> 00:24:35

teaches us with this knowledge.

00:24:35--> 00:24:37

That the Lord who is settled with his

00:24:37--> 00:24:40

servants, he is the all powerful and exalted

00:24:40--> 00:24:41

in might.

00:24:43--> 00:24:44

That's his reality.

00:24:45--> 00:24:47

If you didn't get,

00:24:47--> 00:24:50

then know that is not because Allah didn't

00:24:50--> 00:24:50

have,

00:24:51--> 00:24:53

and it's not because Allah is weak and

00:24:53--> 00:24:54

unable.

00:24:54--> 00:24:56

If you didn't get,

00:24:56--> 00:24:58

it's because it's good for you. And we

00:24:58--> 00:25:00

will see this in another part tonight,

00:25:00--> 00:25:03

another ayah. So I'll leave this lesson

00:25:03--> 00:25:03

hanging,

00:25:05--> 00:25:06

as they say.

00:25:06--> 00:25:09

Ibn Qudam al Hambali once advised someone and

00:25:09--> 00:25:10

said,

00:25:10--> 00:25:12

advice on based on this verse.

00:25:13--> 00:25:15

He said, ibn Qudam, a very famous scholar

00:25:15--> 00:25:17

from the hambali madhab, a pillar of the

00:25:17--> 00:25:19

hambali madhab, the author of

00:25:19--> 00:25:21

Al Mughni, the enricher,

00:25:21--> 00:25:22

the book

00:25:22--> 00:25:23

that suffices.

00:25:25--> 00:25:27

He said know that the one who is

00:25:27--> 00:25:28

in the sea

00:25:29--> 00:25:31

on a plank Imagine you on the sea,

00:25:32--> 00:25:33

there's no coast around you.

00:25:34--> 00:25:35

The waves are strong.

00:25:36--> 00:25:37

You're not in a boat, you're on a

00:25:37--> 00:25:38

plank.

00:25:39--> 00:25:39

Muqaddama

00:25:40--> 00:25:42

says, know that the one who is in

00:25:42--> 00:25:45

the sea on a plank is not in

00:25:45--> 00:25:48

greater need of Allah and His kindness than

00:25:48--> 00:25:50

the one who is in his house amongst

00:25:50--> 00:25:51

his family and his wealth.

00:25:52--> 00:25:53

They are both

00:25:54--> 00:25:56

in need of Allah in the same way.

00:25:57--> 00:25:59

Do not think the one on a plank

00:25:59--> 00:26:00

in the middle of waves

00:26:01--> 00:26:02

fighting for his life

00:26:03--> 00:26:04

is in more need of Allah than the

00:26:04--> 00:26:06

one in his home with his family and

00:26:06--> 00:26:06

his wealth.

00:26:07--> 00:26:08

You are both

00:26:08--> 00:26:10

the same in need of your Lord.

00:26:10--> 00:26:11

SubhanAllah.

00:26:12--> 00:26:13

So he said,

00:26:13--> 00:26:16

so if you establish this in your heart,

00:26:16--> 00:26:19

then rely on Allah, tawakkul,

00:26:19--> 00:26:22

like the reliance of a drowning person,

00:26:22--> 00:26:25

who has no one to rescue him except

00:26:25--> 00:26:25

Allah.

00:26:26--> 00:26:28

That even when you are in your business

00:26:28--> 00:26:29

that is flourishing,

00:26:30--> 00:26:31

your home with healthy children,

00:26:32--> 00:26:33

and a forthcoming

00:26:34--> 00:26:35

wife, rely on Allah,

00:26:36--> 00:26:38

like the one who is drowning and is

00:26:38--> 00:26:40

relying on Allah. This should be your way.

00:26:40--> 00:26:42

Do not rely on your might, do not

00:26:42--> 00:26:45

rely on your skills, do not rely on

00:26:45--> 00:26:45

your education,

00:26:46--> 00:26:48

do not rely on your degree, do not

00:26:48--> 00:26:51

rely on your family status, do not rely

00:26:51--> 00:26:53

on your culture, your cultural, your ethnic background

00:26:53--> 00:26:56

or group. Only rely on Allah Subhanahu Wa

00:26:56--> 00:26:57

Ta'ala.

00:26:57--> 00:27:00

For everything that you have is rizq from

00:27:00--> 00:27:00

Allah.

00:27:01--> 00:27:02

Allahu Lapi from Biribati.

00:27:03--> 00:27:04

Allah is subtle with his slaves, he has

00:27:04--> 00:27:06

given you all of this.

00:27:06--> 00:27:08

And he's given you not because he was

00:27:08--> 00:27:11

pushed to, because he's gentle with you.

00:27:11--> 00:27:13

And if he doesn't give you, it's not

00:27:13--> 00:27:15

because he's unable to, it's because it's good

00:27:15--> 00:27:17

for you. This is Tawakkul and reliance in

00:27:17--> 00:27:18

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.

00:27:19--> 00:27:21

That when we get our lives to the

00:27:21--> 00:27:24

stage and build our heart to the stage,

00:27:25--> 00:27:27

having and not having is the same for

00:27:27--> 00:27:27

a believer.

00:27:28--> 00:27:30

Having and not having is the same for

00:27:30--> 00:27:31

a believer.

00:27:31--> 00:27:33

Today we think we are tested when we

00:27:33--> 00:27:34

don't have,

00:27:35--> 00:27:36

and we are blessed when we have,

00:27:37--> 00:27:39

but the one who has put their trust

00:27:39--> 00:27:41

in Allah feels blessed when they have and

00:27:41--> 00:27:43

when they don't have.

00:27:44--> 00:27:46

Because they manage the test in a gracious

00:27:46--> 00:27:48

way and that is a blessing.

00:27:48--> 00:27:50

For them, their jannah grows when they have,

00:27:51--> 00:27:53

and their jannah grows when they don't have.

00:27:53--> 00:27:55

Their circumstances are the same. It's defined by

00:27:55--> 00:27:58

whether that jannah grows or doesn't grow.

00:27:58--> 00:28:00

Doesn't matter what I have with me in

00:28:00--> 00:28:00

the temporary,

00:28:01--> 00:28:02

what matters is what I have with me

00:28:02--> 00:28:03

in the permanent,

00:28:04--> 00:28:05

and my jannah is growing when I didn't

00:28:05--> 00:28:08

have, so I really have, and my jannah

00:28:08--> 00:28:09

is growing when I have, so I really

00:28:09--> 00:28:12

have. But if my jannah doesn't grow when

00:28:12--> 00:28:14

I have, then I really don't have, and

00:28:14--> 00:28:15

if my jannah grows when I don't have,

00:28:15--> 00:28:17

then I really have. This is taqulillah Allah

00:28:17--> 00:28:20

subhanahu wa ta'ala, and this is the tafsir

00:28:20--> 00:28:22

of the verse, Allahu lataifun bi ribal.

00:28:24--> 00:28:26

See, sometimes it's a case that we really

00:28:26--> 00:28:27

don't know Allah.

00:28:28--> 00:28:29

That's our problem.

00:28:29--> 00:28:31

We don't know Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.

00:28:32--> 00:28:33

If we truly knew Allah,

00:28:34--> 00:28:36

then our lives would be different, starting with

00:28:36--> 00:28:37

me, myself.

00:28:38--> 00:28:39

When was

00:28:39--> 00:28:42

banished after being banished after being banished, he

00:28:42--> 00:28:44

says, what can my enemies do to me?

00:28:45--> 00:28:47

I have Allah in my heart, meaning I'm

00:28:47--> 00:28:48

with my Lord.

00:28:49--> 00:28:51

If they kick me out of the land,

00:28:51--> 00:28:52

it's tourism. A chance for me to see

00:28:52--> 00:28:53

other places.

00:28:55--> 00:28:56

They haven't kicked me anyway,

00:28:57--> 00:28:59

but they've really kicked me out if they

00:28:59--> 00:29:00

separate me from my Lord, and that's not

00:29:00--> 00:29:01

in the power of any human being.

00:29:02--> 00:29:04

And not in the power of any human

00:29:04--> 00:29:04

being.

00:29:05--> 00:29:07

Honor and dishonor is not in the power

00:29:07--> 00:29:09

of any human being and even in Surah

00:29:09--> 00:29:12

Yusuf when the minister's wife, she says I

00:29:12--> 00:29:14

will jail you, she used Noon at Tawqid

00:29:15--> 00:29:15

athaqila.

00:29:16--> 00:29:17

You'll see it in my book, I mentioned

00:29:17--> 00:29:19

this in the Surah Yusuf book. Just to

00:29:19--> 00:29:21

highlight the beauty of the Quran and how

00:29:21--> 00:29:22

it gives us

00:29:23--> 00:29:25

meanings beyond meanings, but the verse is the

00:29:25--> 00:29:26

same. She uses

00:29:27--> 00:29:28

which is a double confirmation.

00:29:30--> 00:29:31

But when she says you will be from

00:29:31--> 00:29:32

the dishonored,

00:29:33--> 00:29:34

only one nun is used,

00:29:35--> 00:29:35

SubhanAllah.

00:29:36--> 00:29:39

Because jailing him was in her control. Dishonoring

00:29:39--> 00:29:41

him wasn't in her control.

00:29:43--> 00:29:45

But you won't see that by just reading

00:29:45--> 00:29:47

the aya. You have to repeat the aya,

00:29:47--> 00:29:48

put it on loop,

00:29:49--> 00:29:52

and then develop your Arabic language skills.

00:29:52--> 00:29:54

Or you can buy the book Insha'Allah.

00:29:56--> 00:29:57

So my brothers and sisters in Islam, our

00:29:57--> 00:29:59

risk is controlled in the heavens. A lot

00:29:59--> 00:30:00

of people, subhanAllah,

00:30:00--> 00:30:02

especially since COVID and then after COVID, the

00:30:02--> 00:30:04

high inflation rates, etcetera, of course, it's not

00:30:04--> 00:30:06

great. And this is the sign of the

00:30:06--> 00:30:08

times and our sins and riba and interest

00:30:08--> 00:30:10

and so on and so forth. But people,

00:30:10--> 00:30:12

subhanAllah, they hyperventilate.

00:30:12--> 00:30:15

Their ibadah gets affected. Their recitation of the

00:30:15--> 00:30:17

Quran gets never negatively impacted.

00:30:18--> 00:30:19

Their attitude with their kids deteriorates.

00:30:20--> 00:30:22

Their patience with their families deteriorate. Why? Because

00:30:22--> 00:30:24

of the stress of the job, and the

00:30:24--> 00:30:25

high cost of living, and having to pay

00:30:25--> 00:30:27

the bills, and so on and so forth.

00:30:28--> 00:30:29

But Allah

00:30:30--> 00:30:32

when he tells us, Allahu Latifum bi ribadi,

00:30:32--> 00:30:33

and then tells us Allah is the All

00:30:33--> 00:30:34

Powerful, the All Able,

00:30:36--> 00:30:38

He's telling you that you shouldn't be worrying

00:30:38--> 00:30:39

about your rizq

00:30:40--> 00:30:42

because it's Allah who is Arazaq,

00:30:42--> 00:30:44

the one who provides for you.

00:30:45--> 00:30:46

And matters of rizq

00:30:47--> 00:30:49

are controlled in the heavens, not on earth.

00:30:50--> 00:30:53

Whatever happens on earth doesn't affect what's happening

00:30:53--> 00:30:54

in the heavens. In fact,

00:30:55--> 00:30:57

don't take my word for it, take Allah's

00:30:57--> 00:31:00

word for it. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says,

00:31:07--> 00:31:09

Allah has says and in the heavens is

00:31:09--> 00:31:10

your rizq.

00:31:11--> 00:31:13

In your heavens are the affairs of your

00:31:13--> 00:31:14

rizq.

00:31:14--> 00:31:17

So this in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is

00:31:17--> 00:31:19

from the worship of the heart, And Allah,

00:31:19--> 00:31:20

yesterday we said,

00:31:21--> 00:31:22

he restricts sometimes,

00:31:24--> 00:31:25

and he releases sometimes

00:31:26--> 00:31:27

to give you the opportunity to worship him

00:31:27--> 00:31:28

through tawakkul.

00:31:30--> 00:31:31

To worship him through tawakkul.

00:31:35--> 00:31:37

Falling into displace, not from the people of

00:31:37--> 00:31:39

Imai. And the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam

00:31:39--> 00:31:40

said,

00:31:44--> 00:31:45

SubhanAllah.

00:31:45--> 00:31:48

How clear a message can we have? He

00:31:48--> 00:31:50

said, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,

00:31:51--> 00:31:51

no soul

00:31:53--> 00:31:55

I'll translate it as soul. We said nafs

00:31:55--> 00:31:56

is the soul connected to the body in

00:31:56--> 00:31:58

the life of this world. Just to consolidate

00:31:58--> 00:32:00

your knowledge from last night. In the nafsa,

00:32:01--> 00:32:03

no soul shall taste death

00:32:04--> 00:32:05

until it consumes

00:32:06--> 00:32:07

the last grain

00:32:08--> 00:32:10

that Allah decreed for it to consume. That

00:32:10--> 00:32:12

grain that fell off your plate onto the

00:32:12--> 00:32:15

floor, until you consume it, you won't die.

00:32:16--> 00:32:18

And once you do, you won't live. And

00:32:18--> 00:32:19

even if you lived, what will you eat?

00:32:23--> 00:32:25

So this is what we're learning, subhanAllah, the

00:32:25--> 00:32:27

beginning of Surah Surah.

00:32:27--> 00:32:29

Then Allah takes us further

00:32:30--> 00:32:31

with this knowledge.

00:32:31--> 00:32:32

He teaches

00:32:33--> 00:32:34

us, oh son of Adam,

00:32:35--> 00:32:36

oh follower of Muhammad,

00:32:37--> 00:32:39

oh believer in Allah, don't live your life

00:32:39--> 00:32:42

till the grave. Live your life till beyond

00:32:42--> 00:32:43

the grave. You believe in the hereafter,

00:32:44--> 00:32:47

live a life that makes manifest that this

00:32:47--> 00:32:48

belief is in your heart.

00:32:48--> 00:32:50

So Allah says,

00:32:58--> 00:33:00

That whoever desires the harvest,

00:33:01--> 00:33:02

the profit

00:33:02--> 00:33:04

of the hereafter, we will increase in him

00:33:04--> 00:33:06

his harvest and profit.

00:33:06--> 00:33:08

Meaning the one who lives as if there's

00:33:08--> 00:33:09

a life after this grave,

00:33:09--> 00:33:10

Allah will increase for you.

00:33:18--> 00:33:19

And whoever

00:33:20--> 00:33:21

lives for the life of this world,

00:33:22--> 00:33:24

desires the harvest and profit of the life

00:33:24--> 00:33:25

before the grave,

00:33:25--> 00:33:27

Allah says we will give that to you

00:33:27--> 00:33:28

before the grave. No problem. This is easy

00:33:28--> 00:33:30

for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. It's nothing personal

00:33:30--> 00:33:32

here. This is not a matter.

00:33:32--> 00:33:34

This is nothing for Allah.

00:33:34--> 00:33:36

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says for the one

00:33:36--> 00:33:38

who does this, wama lahu

00:33:39--> 00:33:40

fil akhirati

00:33:40--> 00:33:41

minasib

00:33:42--> 00:33:44

And in the hereafter, this person will have

00:33:44--> 00:33:45

nothing with Allah

00:33:46--> 00:33:48

Live for this life, go to Allah, you'll

00:33:48--> 00:33:50

have nothing on your scales. When you seek

00:33:51--> 00:33:51

the recompense

00:33:52--> 00:33:54

for what you did, Allah will show you

00:33:54--> 00:33:57

the sheet in which you were given, the

00:33:57--> 00:33:59

reward for what you did before you died.

00:33:59--> 00:34:00

The way of the believer

00:34:01--> 00:34:01

is to seek from

00:34:02--> 00:34:02

Allah,

00:34:08--> 00:34:12

Suratul Baqarah, the second Jews, the second quarter.

00:34:12--> 00:34:14

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us about the

00:34:14--> 00:34:17

people during Hajj and the dua. Allah says

00:34:17--> 00:34:19

in the dua, on the Arafah, when they

00:34:19--> 00:34:21

call out to Allah, there's 2 groups.

00:34:22--> 00:34:23

There's a group that says,

00:34:25--> 00:34:27

Oh Allah, give us in the duniya, Give

00:34:27--> 00:34:30

us, we want this children, health, wealth, position,

00:34:30--> 00:34:31

status, fame.

00:34:33--> 00:34:35

And you don't find in the dua any

00:34:35--> 00:34:37

supplication for the hereafter.

00:34:38--> 00:34:39

It's as if they just want the harvest

00:34:39--> 00:34:40

of the dunya,

00:34:41--> 00:34:43

and then Allah mentions the praiseworthy ones.

00:35:04--> 00:35:05

Allah says, and then there are those

00:35:06--> 00:35:07

in the du'a

00:35:07--> 00:35:10

to Allah is, you Allah, give us in

00:35:10--> 00:35:12

this life, and give us in the hereafter,

00:35:12--> 00:35:14

and save us from the hellfire. The scholars

00:35:14--> 00:35:17

have deduced that the praiseworthy du'a is a

00:35:17--> 00:35:19

du'a that happens upon a ratio of 2

00:35:19--> 00:35:20

to 1.

00:35:20--> 00:35:22

Twice the amount for the hereafter,

00:35:23--> 00:35:24

once the amount for the life of this

00:35:24--> 00:35:27

wealth. Where did they deduce this from? Allah

00:35:27--> 00:35:30

says that the regarding the dua of the

00:35:30--> 00:35:31

praiseworthy ones,

00:35:34--> 00:35:36

They say, So one dua for the duniya.

00:35:38--> 00:35:39

1 dua for the akhirah. 1 dua for

00:35:39--> 00:35:40

the akhirah. 1:1.

00:35:41--> 00:35:42

Waqinna adabannar,

00:35:42--> 00:35:44

save us from the hellfire, away is the

00:35:44--> 00:35:45

hellfire, and this life for the next,

00:35:46--> 00:35:47

in the next, 2 1.

00:35:48--> 00:35:50

A 2 to 1 ratio when you make

00:35:50--> 00:35:51

dua.

00:35:52--> 00:35:54

May Allah grant us the understanding.

00:35:54--> 00:35:55

Ameen.

00:35:55--> 00:35:56

The 4th

00:35:57--> 00:35:59

verse, rewards give birth to rewards.

00:36:00--> 00:36:03

Rewards give birth to rewards. Take this as

00:36:03--> 00:36:04

a.

00:36:05--> 00:36:07

Bad deeds give birth to bad deeds. Shaytan

00:36:07--> 00:36:09

lies to you when He says do the

00:36:09--> 00:36:11

bad deed and be a righteous person after

00:36:11--> 00:36:12

the bad deed.

00:36:13--> 00:36:15

If Allah blesses you, you will.

00:36:15--> 00:36:18

But the guarantee is that bad deeds give

00:36:18--> 00:36:21

birth to bad deeds, Like the brothers of

00:36:21--> 00:36:22

Yusuf. Again, you have to come back to

00:36:22--> 00:36:23

my book.

00:36:24--> 00:36:26

What did they say? Let's throw him down

00:36:26--> 00:36:27

the well,

00:36:27--> 00:36:29

and after this, we will be righteous people.

00:36:29--> 00:36:30

But what happened?

00:36:31--> 00:36:32

They threw him down the well, then they

00:36:32--> 00:36:34

had to steal his shirt. Were they righteous

00:36:34--> 00:36:35

in stealing the shirt?

00:36:36--> 00:36:37

Then they had to kill an animal. Were

00:36:37--> 00:36:38

they righteous in killing the animal?

00:36:39--> 00:36:42

Then they had to dip the manufacture evidence.

00:36:42--> 00:36:44

Were they righteous when they did that? Then

00:36:44--> 00:36:45

they had to go to their father, not

00:36:45--> 00:36:47

in the day at night, so connivingly.

00:36:47--> 00:36:50

Were they righteous there? Then they had to

00:36:50--> 00:36:52

pretend like they were crying crocodile tears, were

00:36:52--> 00:36:55

they righteous there? Then they lied to their

00:36:55--> 00:36:57

father about what happened, the wolf ate him,

00:36:57--> 00:36:59

were they righteous there? And then they said,

00:37:00--> 00:37:01

you won't believe us even if we are

00:37:01--> 00:37:02

truthful.

00:37:04--> 00:37:05

Were they righteous there?

00:37:06--> 00:37:08

So Shaytan lied to them. Bad deed will

00:37:08--> 00:37:10

give birth to a good deed,

00:37:10--> 00:37:12

but we know the bad deeds gave birth

00:37:12--> 00:37:14

to a plethora of good deeds. But please

00:37:14--> 00:37:15

read the book now. I'm giving it to

00:37:15--> 00:37:16

you on on on on the.

00:37:17--> 00:37:18

It will read guys.

00:37:19--> 00:37:19

Insha'Allah.

00:37:21--> 00:37:24

Surah Surah, rewards give birth to rewards. Allah

00:37:24--> 00:37:25

says

00:37:43--> 00:37:44

Subhanallah, pay attention.

00:37:47--> 00:37:48

It is that of which Allah gives good

00:37:48--> 00:37:50

tidings to his servants who believe and do

00:37:50--> 00:37:53

righteous deeds. Say to them, oh, Muhammad, I

00:37:53--> 00:37:55

do not ask you for this message of

00:37:55--> 00:37:56

mine any payment.

00:37:56--> 00:37:59

I don't seek from it any financial standing.

00:37:59--> 00:38:01

I don't seek for it any world fame.

00:38:01--> 00:38:03

I'm not looking for position in preaching to

00:38:03--> 00:38:04

you to worship on Allah.

00:38:05--> 00:38:06

All I'm looking for

00:38:07--> 00:38:07

is

00:38:08--> 00:38:09

goodwill through kinship.

00:38:10--> 00:38:11

We have a relationship,

00:38:12--> 00:38:13

offer me your goodwill,

00:38:13--> 00:38:15

Be objective and listen to what I'm saying.

00:38:15--> 00:38:17

That's what I'm looking for. And then Allah

00:38:17--> 00:38:20

says tell them and whoever commits a good

00:38:20--> 00:38:23

deed, we will increase for him in goodness

00:38:23--> 00:38:23

therein.

00:38:24--> 00:38:26

Rewards and good deeds give birth to more

00:38:26--> 00:38:28

good deeds and rewards. This is the Ka'idah,

00:38:28--> 00:38:29

and this is the principle.

00:38:30--> 00:38:32

And then Allah says, indeed Allah is forgiving

00:38:32--> 00:38:34

and appreciative. SubhanAllah. You know how much we

00:38:34--> 00:38:37

learn from the kawati mal ayaat, these endings

00:38:37--> 00:38:39

of this is called kawati mal ayaat, there's

00:38:39--> 00:38:39

a science

00:38:40--> 00:38:41

in Ulsulatafsi

00:38:41--> 00:38:42

in in in Ulu

00:38:43--> 00:38:45

Mal Quran. There's a science that is studied

00:38:45--> 00:38:47

in the in in the knowledge of the

00:38:47--> 00:38:50

Quran known as Hawatim Al Ayat, subhanAllah.

00:38:50--> 00:38:53

The ending of verses, how Allah ends verses,

00:38:53--> 00:38:56

it just opens your understanding to a whole

00:38:56--> 00:38:58

new horizon of what the verse is saying.

00:38:58--> 00:39:00

So Allah says this, and at the end

00:39:00--> 00:39:03

Allah says Allah is forgiving. Meaning, you will

00:39:03--> 00:39:05

slip in trying to do the good deed,

00:39:06--> 00:39:08

but don't fear for your rewards. Allah is

00:39:08--> 00:39:08

forgiving.

00:39:09--> 00:39:12

And Allah is appreciative, meaning Allah acknowledges the

00:39:12--> 00:39:15

one who shows Allah that they seek out

00:39:16--> 00:39:17

SubhanAllah.

00:39:18--> 00:39:18

Sometimes

00:39:19--> 00:39:20

it doesn't go to plan. A few doubts

00:39:20--> 00:39:22

here, some people have health issues, they doubt

00:39:22--> 00:39:25

my concentration, my salah here, there. I'm trying,

00:39:25--> 00:39:26

yeah, Allah.

00:39:26--> 00:39:28

Shaitan uses that as a tool to make

00:39:28--> 00:39:30

you sad that your worship isn't great,

00:39:31--> 00:39:33

that you've lost the rewards, that you were

00:39:33--> 00:39:35

seeking later Qadr but you were too tired,

00:39:35--> 00:39:37

you slept in sujood a couple of times,

00:39:37--> 00:39:38

you dozed off.

00:39:39--> 00:39:41

It can happen. Shaitaan comes and

00:39:42--> 00:39:44

plays with you. These thoughts come to you.

00:39:44--> 00:39:46

If not now after Ramadan, when you look

00:39:46--> 00:39:47

back at your Ramadan,

00:39:47--> 00:39:49

what do you say back to Shaytaan? You

00:39:49--> 00:39:50

say, here, Shaytaan.

00:39:51--> 00:39:53

May Allah's curse be upon you.

00:39:54--> 00:39:55

Open Surah Surah

00:39:56--> 00:39:57

verse number 23.

00:39:58--> 00:39:59

My Lord taught me

00:40:00--> 00:40:03

that indeed Allah is Ghafoorun Shakur. He forgives

00:40:03--> 00:40:06

you for your slips and your mistakes and

00:40:06--> 00:40:08

your human weakness, and He's appreciative of you

00:40:08--> 00:40:10

trying for His sake.

00:40:11--> 00:40:13

How merciful is the Sharia?

00:40:13--> 00:40:15

How merciful is the Sharia? Of course he's

00:40:15--> 00:40:18

merciful because it's come from a merciful Lord.

00:40:19--> 00:40:22

You showing Allah that you're trying wallahi, this

00:40:22--> 00:40:23

is a lot.

00:40:25--> 00:40:27

You're showing Allah that you're trying is a

00:40:27--> 00:40:28

lot.

00:40:29--> 00:40:31

Weaknesses in the execution, Allah is Ghafoor.

00:40:32--> 00:40:35

Allah will forgive you. So don't stop trying

00:40:36--> 00:40:37

because you anticipate

00:40:37--> 00:40:39

the weakness, and this happens with some people.

00:40:39--> 00:40:41

Because of the weakness, they want to give

00:40:41--> 00:40:43

up. We say no, no, no, don't give

00:40:43--> 00:40:43

up.

00:40:44--> 00:40:45

Islam is a religion of positivity.

00:40:46--> 00:40:48

We don't change things. Things that we did

00:40:48--> 00:40:50

for Allah we don't stop.

00:40:50--> 00:40:52

We carry on and we work on improving.

00:40:53--> 00:40:55

This is the way of the believers.

00:40:56--> 00:40:56

Bayib.

00:40:57--> 00:41:00

Number next verse, verse number 5. SubhanAllah, we're

00:41:00--> 00:41:01

still on Surah.

00:41:02--> 00:41:04

Allah only sets us up for success, not

00:41:04--> 00:41:05

failure. When did I say this to you

00:41:05--> 00:41:06

yesterday? Correct?

00:41:07--> 00:41:09

Allah sets us up for success, not to

00:41:09--> 00:41:12

fail. The Sharia sets us up to succeed

00:41:12--> 00:41:14

not to fail. Allah says in his book,

00:41:14--> 00:41:16

listen to this about sustenance again. And I

00:41:16--> 00:41:19

told you we leaving one lesson hanging. We're

00:41:19--> 00:41:20

gonna complete it later, we're gonna complete it

00:41:20--> 00:41:21

now.

00:41:22--> 00:41:23

Allah says,

00:41:32--> 00:41:34

Allah says, If Allah

00:41:42--> 00:41:44

the knowledge of Allah because Allah knows us

00:41:44--> 00:41:45

better than we know ourselves.

00:41:46--> 00:41:49

They would have committed tyranny throughout the earth.

00:41:50--> 00:41:52

Allah didn't create you to fail, he created

00:41:52--> 00:41:52

you to succeed.

00:41:53--> 00:41:56

Sometimes you ask from him, he doesn't give

00:41:56--> 00:41:58

you. Because if he gives you, you'll fail.

00:41:59--> 00:42:00

SubhanAllah.

00:42:00--> 00:42:01

Allah says, walakin,

00:42:12--> 00:42:15

Allah says, but Allah gives them what they're

00:42:15--> 00:42:18

asking in an amount which Allah wills. Why?

00:42:18--> 00:42:21

Allah is kabeer again. Kawatin al ayaat. Let's

00:42:21--> 00:42:23

go to the ending of the ayaat, see

00:42:23--> 00:42:24

which names of Allah he used

00:42:25--> 00:42:27

for us to appreciate this ayah via, and

00:42:27--> 00:42:29

let's go back to the verse. Allah says

00:42:29--> 00:42:32

his kabir. What is kabir? Kabeer, we know

00:42:32--> 00:42:34

Allah knows everything, and Allah sees everything. Allah

00:42:34--> 00:42:37

is Aliamim, the omniscient. He's Al Basir, the

00:42:37--> 00:42:40

all seeing. He's Al Shaheed, the universal witness.

00:42:40--> 00:42:43

He's Al Raqib, the Universal Observer. And he's

00:42:43--> 00:42:46

Al Khabeer. Al Khabeer refers to the hidden

00:42:46--> 00:42:46

matters.

00:42:47--> 00:42:48

That which is in your heart, nobody knows

00:42:48--> 00:42:49

but you.

00:42:50--> 00:42:52

That which is in your heart, nobody knows

00:42:52--> 00:42:54

what but you. In fact, it's so deeply

00:42:54--> 00:42:55

buried in you,

00:42:56--> 00:42:58

you might not even know about it until

00:42:58--> 00:43:00

your circumstances change and you actually practice it

00:43:00--> 00:43:02

and you learn something new about yourself.

00:43:03--> 00:43:04

Allah knows it.

00:43:04--> 00:43:07

So Allah says Allah withholds it. He doesn't

00:43:07--> 00:43:09

give his slave what his slave seeks. Why?

00:43:09--> 00:43:11

Allah is kabir. Allah knows what's gonna happen

00:43:11--> 00:43:13

to the slave before the slave knows what's

00:43:13--> 00:43:15

gonna happen to him. Which means what my

00:43:15--> 00:43:17

dear brothers and sisters in Islam, we can

00:43:17--> 00:43:19

even flip the the the lesson here. I've

00:43:19--> 00:43:21

named it Allah only sets up for success,

00:43:21--> 00:43:22

not failure.

00:43:23--> 00:43:25

With my explanation you can understand

00:43:25--> 00:43:27

or we can come up with a new

00:43:27--> 00:43:30

title to this lesson that Allah always gives

00:43:30--> 00:43:33

you, He's even giving you when he doesn't

00:43:33--> 00:43:33

give you.

00:43:36--> 00:43:37

Have you ever thought about that?

00:43:39--> 00:43:41

Say I'm making Dua, I'm making Dua, Allah

00:43:41--> 00:43:42

make Allah is not answering my Dua. Have

00:43:42--> 00:43:44

you been? How do you know he's not

00:43:44--> 00:43:45

answering your Dua?

00:43:46--> 00:43:48

Sometimes in not giving you he's giving you

00:43:49--> 00:43:50

because if he gave you

00:43:51--> 00:43:53

you would have entered into a situation that

00:43:53--> 00:43:56

you already asked him to save you from.

00:43:56--> 00:43:58

So Allah by not giving you is saving

00:43:58--> 00:44:00

you from you, so is He not giving

00:44:00--> 00:44:02

you even though you feel He's not giving

00:44:02--> 00:44:02

you?

00:44:03--> 00:44:04

SubhanAllah.

00:44:05--> 00:44:08

When we learn about our Lord, our interaction

00:44:08--> 00:44:09

with our Lord changes.

00:44:10--> 00:44:12

Our thoughts about our Lord changes.

00:44:13--> 00:44:15

The Quran helps us learn about Allah.

00:44:16--> 00:44:18

When you read the Quran, I mean look,

00:44:18--> 00:44:20

we Muslims and we somebody might come here

00:44:20--> 00:44:21

and say, oh, Allah, you're all Muslims. That's

00:44:21--> 00:44:23

why you're all excited about the Quran. But

00:44:23--> 00:44:25

let's be honest. Even if someone was just

00:44:25--> 00:44:28

a person in the middle here, not Muslim

00:44:28--> 00:44:29

tinkering with the idea,

00:44:30--> 00:44:32

The common sense that's coming out of these

00:44:32--> 00:44:33

verses of the Quran. Wouldn't

00:44:34--> 00:44:36

this solidify you that, subhanAllah, this cannot come

00:44:36--> 00:44:38

from any man. This is from the divine.

00:44:39--> 00:44:40

This is from the Lord of the worlds.

00:44:41--> 00:44:42

There's a brother

00:44:42--> 00:44:44

from Sri Lanka. Let me digress.

00:44:45--> 00:44:47

These are blessed nights inshallah. We'll sit inshallah,

00:44:47--> 00:44:49

tell Allah, decrees for us to go.

00:44:51--> 00:44:52

His name is Mohammed Sharif

00:44:53--> 00:44:54

from Sri Lanka.

00:44:55--> 00:44:57

He, subhanallah, and his story is amazing. He's

00:44:57--> 00:45:00

written an encyclopedic work on comparative religion now.

00:45:00--> 00:45:02

Make dua for him, he's not too well.

00:45:04--> 00:45:06

Subhanallah, what's his story?

00:45:06--> 00:45:09

He was a Christian, a devoted Christian,

00:45:10--> 00:45:12

and an intelligent Christian.

00:45:12--> 00:45:13

And

00:45:13--> 00:45:14

in the missionary movement.

00:45:16--> 00:45:18

Meaning, he studied religion well

00:45:19--> 00:45:21

and he was a master tactician and debater

00:45:22--> 00:45:24

acknowledged by the priests and seniors

00:45:25--> 00:45:28

not only in Sri Lanka but across the

00:45:28--> 00:45:29

missionaries worldwide.

00:45:30--> 00:45:30

And

00:45:32--> 00:45:33

when he qualified,

00:45:34--> 00:45:35

they send you out. Right?

00:45:36--> 00:45:38

So they said, where should you we send

00:45:38--> 00:45:40

you? He say, send me to the place

00:45:40--> 00:45:42

that's the most difficult on earth to preach

00:45:42--> 00:45:43

about Jesus.

00:45:45--> 00:45:47

Which is that place? They all said Saudi

00:45:47--> 00:45:47

Arabia.

00:45:48--> 00:45:50

This is the 90s. This is the 90s.

00:45:50--> 00:45:51

They said Saudi Arabia.

00:45:53--> 00:45:54

I initially heard the story from a lecture

00:45:54--> 00:45:57

that someone sent me by doctor Bilal Phillips

00:45:57--> 00:45:59

because doctor Bilal Phillips knew this person, and

00:45:59--> 00:46:00

they were based in Saudi Arabia in the

00:46:00--> 00:46:02

nineties, And the Gulf War happened and all

00:46:02--> 00:46:03

this thing happened.

00:46:03--> 00:46:06

And then obviously, over time through Maida'awah, we

00:46:06--> 00:46:08

met, and we keep in touch till today.

00:46:10--> 00:46:11

Saudi Arabia,

00:46:11--> 00:46:13

how can he get to Saudi Arabia?

00:46:13--> 00:46:15

You can't get to Saudi Arabia, you can't

00:46:15--> 00:46:16

go there saying I'm coming to preach Christianity,

00:46:16--> 00:46:18

no one's going to give you a residence

00:46:18--> 00:46:18

permit,

00:46:19--> 00:46:21

Right? So he went

00:46:21--> 00:46:22

to my knowledge,

00:46:22--> 00:46:23

he studied accounting

00:46:24--> 00:46:25

to be able to go get a job

00:46:25--> 00:46:26

as an accountant,

00:46:27--> 00:46:29

as a guy to go preach Jesus on

00:46:29--> 00:46:31

the hardest place on earth.

00:46:32--> 00:46:34

Eventually he gets there. Look at the dedication,

00:46:35--> 00:46:38

dedications, SubhanAllah, because he sincerely believed this is

00:46:39--> 00:46:40

the Haqq, and he had all the answers

00:46:40--> 00:46:42

for all the Quran and the Torah and

00:46:42--> 00:46:43

all the other,

00:46:44--> 00:46:45

matters of other religions.

00:46:46--> 00:46:48

He's a master debater. You speak to him

00:46:48--> 00:46:49

about any religion, subhanAllah, encyclopedic.

00:46:50--> 00:46:52

Google, but in the human form.

00:46:53--> 00:46:55

And he has the pizzazz and he has

00:46:55--> 00:46:56

everything. Mashallah, bless him.

00:46:57--> 00:46:59

He gets to Saudi Arabia. What's the first

00:46:59--> 00:47:01

thing he does? He settles, he says, right.

00:47:01--> 00:47:05

To be able to succeed against the Muslims,

00:47:05--> 00:47:06

I need to understand their book.

00:47:07--> 00:47:08

It's evening time for the first time, he

00:47:08--> 00:47:10

gets a copy of the Quran. He's on

00:47:10--> 00:47:12

a mission. He's not wasting time. He's not

00:47:12--> 00:47:14

looking where the restaurants are, what's the latest

00:47:14--> 00:47:16

things here, you know, what some people do.

00:47:16--> 00:47:17

Yeah. Let's go. Let's see what's there to

00:47:17--> 00:47:17

eat.

00:47:18--> 00:47:20

Yeah. Oh, halal. We might as well explore.

00:47:20--> 00:47:22

Yeah. All the world restaurants are here. Let's

00:47:22--> 00:47:24

go try that medium rare steak, you know.

00:47:26--> 00:47:27

Number 8 on the Wagyu scale.

00:47:28--> 00:47:29

I'm not giving ideas here.

00:47:30--> 00:47:32

I'm just giving you narratives.

00:47:33--> 00:47:34

So

00:47:34--> 00:47:36

he picks up the Quran in his words

00:47:36--> 00:47:37

he's telling me.

00:47:37--> 00:47:40

He picks up the Quran. He starts reading.

00:47:42--> 00:47:43

And he says,

00:47:44--> 00:47:46

something strange happened to me that I've never

00:47:46--> 00:47:48

felt when I've opened any religious text. For

00:47:48--> 00:47:50

the first time I felt like God is

00:47:50--> 00:47:51

talking to me.

00:47:52--> 00:47:53

Alhamdulillah,

00:47:53--> 00:47:54

praise be to Allah.

00:47:55--> 00:47:56

Okay. Who is Allah?

00:47:57--> 00:48:00

Lord of the worlds. Rahmahun Rahim. Malikyum is

00:48:00--> 00:48:02

being hit hit hit. He is saying he

00:48:02--> 00:48:04

sat with the Quran, reading it non stop

00:48:04--> 00:48:05

until Fajr.

00:48:06--> 00:48:08

He is hearing this azaan, being called. This

00:48:08--> 00:48:10

is the call to the morning prayer.

00:48:10--> 00:48:12

That morning he goes, and he announces he

00:48:12--> 00:48:14

wants to accept Islam, he becomes a Muslim.

00:48:15--> 00:48:17

And he begins a dawah machine, in the

00:48:17--> 00:48:18

words of doctor Bilal,

00:48:18--> 00:48:21

he converts people like how, you know, subhanAllah,

00:48:21--> 00:48:23

like a machine that he he would he

00:48:23--> 00:48:25

was based in the east and doctor Bilal

00:48:25--> 00:48:28

Phillips was in Riyadh. This person would fly

00:48:28--> 00:48:29

from the east to Riyadh,

00:48:29--> 00:48:32

get into a taxi at Riyadh airport. By

00:48:32--> 00:48:33

the time he gets to the door of

00:48:33--> 00:48:35

doctor Bilal Phillips, he's walking with the taxi

00:48:35--> 00:48:37

driver saying, Sheikh, make him do the shahada.

00:48:38--> 00:48:41

This is the level of, dawah and dedication,

00:48:41--> 00:48:43

subhanAllah. This is the reality of the Quran.

00:48:43--> 00:48:45

I'm just digressing to make us appreciate the

00:48:45--> 00:48:45

ayat,

00:48:46--> 00:48:47

But yinat,

00:48:47--> 00:48:48

that we are reciting

00:48:49--> 00:48:50

every night and listening to every night. May

00:48:50--> 00:48:52

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us from the

00:48:52--> 00:48:53

people of the Quran.

00:48:54--> 00:48:55

Now Allah says,

00:49:00--> 00:49:03

Another verse, stand out verse. We set up

00:49:03--> 00:49:05

ourselves for failure. It's not

00:49:05--> 00:49:06

and if it was not for Allah, we

00:49:06--> 00:49:08

would be wretched. Allah reveals this in Surah

00:49:08--> 00:49:12

Surah. That mankind sets themselves up for failure.

00:49:12--> 00:49:14

And if it wasn't for Allah, they'd be

00:49:14--> 00:49:14

wretched.

00:49:15--> 00:49:16

When you fail,

00:49:16--> 00:49:17

know and understand

00:49:18--> 00:49:19

that you are still in the mercy of

00:49:19--> 00:49:21

Allah. If it wasn't for Allah's mercy, you'd

00:49:21--> 00:49:23

be far worse off in a situation than

00:49:23--> 00:49:25

you are in right now. Allah says, and

00:49:25--> 00:49:27

whatever strikes you of a disaster, it is

00:49:27--> 00:49:29

because of your own hands, it's because of

00:49:29--> 00:49:31

your own actions, it's because of your own

00:49:31--> 00:49:34

sins. Allah says, and Allah pardons much of

00:49:34--> 00:49:37

what you do. If Allah didn't pardon much

00:49:37--> 00:49:38

of what you do, can you imagine the

00:49:38--> 00:49:39

disaster you'd be in?

00:49:41--> 00:49:43

That the disaster you're going through is because

00:49:43--> 00:49:43

of your actions

00:49:44--> 00:49:46

and if Allah didn't pardon the other actions

00:49:46--> 00:49:48

of yours can you imagine the extent of

00:49:48--> 00:49:48

your disaster?

00:49:50--> 00:49:52

Allah teaches us this in Surah Surah as

00:49:52--> 00:49:52

well.

00:49:54--> 00:49:55

Bayib, let us move to Azukruf,

00:49:56--> 00:49:56

Azukruf

00:49:57--> 00:50:00

89 verses, Makkan as well. I'll shorten insha'Allah.

00:50:00--> 00:50:01

Very quickly,

00:50:01--> 00:50:02

it's from the Hawameem.

00:50:03--> 00:50:04

And in terms of the chosen verses,

00:50:05--> 00:50:07

Allah teaches us that our vehicles that we

00:50:07--> 00:50:09

have that take us from point a to

00:50:09--> 00:50:10

point b, they are blessings,

00:50:11--> 00:50:13

but a greater blessing is getting to your

00:50:13--> 00:50:13

destination.

00:50:16--> 00:50:17

Do you ever think about this?

00:50:17--> 00:50:19

That the car that you have is a

00:50:19--> 00:50:19

blessing,

00:50:20--> 00:50:22

but the greater blessing is getting to your

00:50:22--> 00:50:22

destination.

00:50:24--> 00:50:25

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,

00:50:25--> 00:50:26

he reveals,

00:50:28--> 00:50:29

When Allah tells us the blessings of the

00:50:29--> 00:50:32

animals that we have, He says, So you

00:50:32--> 00:50:33

may settle yourselves upon their backs.

00:50:37--> 00:50:40

And then remember Allah's blessing and favor upon

00:50:40--> 00:50:41

you when you are able to sit on

00:50:41--> 00:50:42

their backs.

00:50:45--> 00:50:46

We don't appreciate this because we sit in

00:50:46--> 00:50:47

a car, and a car doesn't have a

00:50:47--> 00:50:49

soul of its of its own.

00:50:50--> 00:50:51

Imagine you sit on a horse that has

00:50:51--> 00:50:53

a mind of its own, has a heart

00:50:53--> 00:50:55

of its own, has a nifs of its

00:50:55--> 00:50:57

own. You sit on a camel, it has

00:50:57--> 00:50:58

its own demeanor,

00:50:59--> 00:51:01

and it's listening to you. You kick it,

00:51:01--> 00:51:03

it moves. You want it to canter, a

00:51:03--> 00:51:05

little move, it canters. You want it to

00:51:05--> 00:51:06

move to the right, you move to the

00:51:06--> 00:51:08

left. It's amazing how these animals can be

00:51:08--> 00:51:10

trained. Allah is saying

00:51:10--> 00:51:12

that's a blessing from Allah upon you that

00:51:12--> 00:51:14

you can settle on their backs, they don't

00:51:14--> 00:51:15

throw you off.

00:51:15--> 00:51:17

And then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, wataqooroo

00:51:18--> 00:51:20

and you say, subhanallati sakharalanahadawamakunallahuukrinin.

00:51:20--> 00:51:21

In

00:51:21--> 00:51:23

the famous dua that we read, when we

00:51:23--> 00:51:25

sit in a vehicle,

00:51:26--> 00:51:28

we say exalted is He who has subjected

00:51:28--> 00:51:30

this to us, who has made this animal,

00:51:30--> 00:51:32

this ride, this vehicle

00:51:32--> 00:51:35

subservient to us, and we could not have

00:51:35--> 00:51:36

otherwise subdued it.

00:51:39--> 00:51:40

And what do you see at the end

00:51:40--> 00:51:41

of the dua?

00:51:46--> 00:51:48

That indeed we are on a journey to

00:51:48--> 00:51:49

our Lord, ultimately.

00:51:49--> 00:51:51

Every journey on earth is only a reminder

00:51:51--> 00:51:53

that you are on an ultimate journey to

00:51:53--> 00:51:53

Allah.

00:51:54--> 00:51:55

Subhan Allah.

00:51:55--> 00:51:57

So here Allah is teaching us

00:51:57--> 00:51:58

that

00:51:59--> 00:52:00

the vehicles you have are a blessing, but

00:52:00--> 00:52:02

getting to your destination safely is a blessing

00:52:02--> 00:52:03

as well.

00:52:03--> 00:52:05

And I said the prophet had

00:52:05--> 00:52:07

a du'a for the vehicle, and a dua

00:52:07--> 00:52:09

for arriving at the place.

00:52:10--> 00:52:11

So we should remember this blessing from Allah

00:52:11--> 00:52:13

subhanahu wa ta'ala,

00:52:13--> 00:52:14

for your perception.

00:52:17--> 00:52:18

And

00:52:18--> 00:52:20

have you ever tried saying

00:52:21--> 00:52:22

sitting on a horse?

00:52:23--> 00:52:24

Have you ever tried this?

00:52:24--> 00:52:26

Who sat on a horse? Come on, guys.

00:52:27--> 00:52:29

Plenty horses. I've seen them around wherever we

00:52:29--> 00:52:31

drive. No. You guys are not taking horse

00:52:31--> 00:52:32

rides? Cave.

00:52:35--> 00:52:36

How come?

00:52:36--> 00:52:38

Khalas, eat activity.

00:52:39--> 00:52:40

Go sit on a horse and say, Subhanall

00:52:40--> 00:52:43

Levy Sakharana Hadha. Wallahi, it's far different when

00:52:43--> 00:52:45

you say it's sitting in your car.

00:52:46--> 00:52:48

Maybe if you're sitting in a 19 eighties

00:52:48--> 00:52:49

that's in Allah knows best.

00:52:50--> 00:52:52

But when you sit in your car,

00:52:53--> 00:52:55

when you're sitting on an animal, yaq, and

00:52:55--> 00:52:56

this thing can throw you off, and you're

00:52:56--> 00:52:58

not an experienced rider and you say subhanalladdi

00:52:58--> 00:53:00

is aq. Now you read the dua with

00:53:00--> 00:53:01

a bit of heart.

00:53:02--> 00:53:04

Has a whole new vibe.

00:53:04--> 00:53:06

This is how life is even the Quran.

00:53:06--> 00:53:08

Sometimes you in a car you read a

00:53:08--> 00:53:09

verse it's different, in the Masjid it's different.

00:53:10--> 00:53:11

You go in a plane subhanAllah you read

00:53:11--> 00:53:13

the verse it's different. I remember I was

00:53:13--> 00:53:14

on a plane once reading

00:53:15--> 00:53:15

how Allah

00:53:16--> 00:53:16

in Suramurk,

00:53:17--> 00:53:17

Allah

00:53:19--> 00:53:20

says,

00:53:25--> 00:53:27

Allah talks about the creation of flight,

00:53:28--> 00:53:30

that they're flying with wings that are

00:53:31--> 00:53:34

kept inwards and wings and wings that are

00:53:34--> 00:53:34

outstretched.

00:53:35--> 00:53:37

And as I'm reading it on the screen

00:53:37--> 00:53:38

of the plane,

00:53:39--> 00:53:40

this plane had a back camera, you know

00:53:40--> 00:53:42

the a380, they have a back camera and

00:53:42--> 00:53:43

you can actually see the plane and the

00:53:43--> 00:53:45

wings outstretched flying. Allah says,

00:53:47--> 00:53:49

Nothing is holding it except Allah.

00:53:50--> 00:53:50

Steel,

00:53:51--> 00:53:52

weighing tons

00:53:53--> 00:53:54

with people's overweight baggage,

00:53:55--> 00:53:56

Let's not even talk about

00:53:56--> 00:53:59

that. Ovoid baggage Allahu Musta'an. Sometimes they hand

00:53:59--> 00:54:01

luggage Allahu Musta'an iaqi. It's like there's rocks

00:54:01--> 00:54:02

inside.

00:54:03--> 00:54:06

Somebody told me they also have another skill.

00:54:06--> 00:54:08

They have a scarf that they wear, and

00:54:08--> 00:54:10

then they put things in the scarf and

00:54:10--> 00:54:12

fold it and sew it. So then it's

00:54:12--> 00:54:15

extra weight on them because nobody weighs your

00:54:15--> 00:54:15

scarf.

00:54:15--> 00:54:18

Imagine, people are phenomenal in breaking the rules.

00:54:19--> 00:54:19

Right?

00:54:20--> 00:54:22

So imagine all this weight and the plane

00:54:22--> 00:54:24

takes off and it flies with the permission

00:54:24--> 00:54:26

of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.

00:54:26--> 00:54:28

Allahu Akbar, Bayb.

00:54:29--> 00:54:32

Next, we are interdependent communities. Allah subhanahu wa

00:54:32--> 00:54:34

ta'ala says, I

00:54:35--> 00:54:37

think this is also important because sometimes we

00:54:37--> 00:54:39

forget this especially in our division.

00:54:39--> 00:54:41

That when we divide we forget that we're

00:54:41--> 00:54:43

only harming ourselves Allah says

00:54:44--> 00:54:46

do they distribute the mercy of your Lord?

00:54:46--> 00:54:47

Listen to this mercy

00:54:48--> 00:54:50

Listen to this mercy. Allah says,

00:55:11--> 00:55:13

Listen to the mercy Allah is discussing here.

00:55:13--> 00:55:16

Allah is saying, it is Allah who apportioned

00:55:16--> 00:55:19

amongst the different people their livelihood in the

00:55:19--> 00:55:21

in the life of this world, and Allah

00:55:21--> 00:55:25

raised some above others in degrees of rank

00:55:25--> 00:55:26

and skills

00:55:27--> 00:55:28

and abilities.

00:55:28--> 00:55:30

Why? So that they may

00:55:31--> 00:55:33

make use of one another in service.

00:55:35--> 00:55:37

The Quran is saying

00:55:37--> 00:55:38

that mankind

00:55:38--> 00:55:40

have been placed on earth as

00:55:40--> 00:55:41

interdependent

00:55:42--> 00:55:42

communities.

00:55:43--> 00:55:44

We are interdependent

00:55:46--> 00:55:46

Meaning,

00:55:46--> 00:55:49

we are a people that will succeed

00:55:50--> 00:55:53

in proportion to our ability to leverage off

00:55:53--> 00:55:54

each other's strengths.

00:55:54--> 00:55:57

Not to mitigate other people's progress

00:55:57--> 00:55:59

that's why jealousy has no place in Islam.

00:55:59--> 00:56:01

As someone progresses and we're jealous of their

00:56:01--> 00:56:03

progress we need to be happy their progress

00:56:03--> 00:56:04

is our progress

00:56:05--> 00:56:07

their failure is our failure this is how

00:56:07--> 00:56:09

we have to see it. Allah says it's

00:56:09--> 00:56:11

from his mercy that he created you as

00:56:11--> 00:56:12

interdependence

00:56:12--> 00:56:14

You have a person who's a mechanic. You

00:56:14--> 00:56:16

have a person who's a pirate. You have

00:56:16--> 00:56:18

a person who's a pharmacist. A person who's

00:56:18--> 00:56:20

a doctor. A person who is a farmer.

00:56:20--> 00:56:22

A person who is a baker. Everybody has

00:56:22--> 00:56:23

their own skills

00:56:23--> 00:56:26

and we leverage off each other's strengths. It's

00:56:26--> 00:56:27

not sustainable

00:56:27--> 00:56:29

for someone to bake their own bread and

00:56:29--> 00:56:32

fly their own plane and manufacture their own

00:56:32--> 00:56:34

vehicle and and and it's it's not sustainable

00:56:34--> 00:56:37

to life. Allah says it's from Allah's mercy

00:56:37--> 00:56:39

upon you that he made you interdependent

00:56:40--> 00:56:40

beings.

00:56:42--> 00:56:44

That you leverage off each other's strength.

00:56:45--> 00:56:47

That this is Allah's mercy upon you so

00:56:47--> 00:56:48

all men can be merciful to each other

00:56:48--> 00:56:49

by opening opportunities

00:56:50--> 00:56:53

for each other, by assisting each other, by

00:56:53--> 00:56:54

helping each other.

00:56:54--> 00:56:57

When the local masjid says people we need

00:56:57--> 00:56:57

to expand

00:56:58--> 00:56:59

for the sake of each other let's come

00:56:59--> 00:57:02

together let's come together in full force.

00:57:03--> 00:57:04

Doctor Saeed?

00:57:05--> 00:57:06

100%. 100%.

00:57:06--> 00:57:09

So 27th night, I'm already done my my

00:57:09--> 00:57:10

job.

00:57:13--> 00:57:15

This but the point is, obviously I'm saying

00:57:15--> 00:57:16

it because we in the Masjid, and the

00:57:16--> 00:57:18

Masjid has a a program, the Salamavan.

00:57:18--> 00:57:20

Right? To try and cover this huge cost

00:57:20--> 00:57:22

not for the Masjid but for the community.

00:57:24--> 00:57:25

For the youth, for the children, for the

00:57:25--> 00:57:26

parents.

00:57:27--> 00:57:29

If we can leverage off each other's strengths,

00:57:29--> 00:57:31

well, we can create big things together.

00:57:32--> 00:57:33

Obviously,

00:57:33--> 00:57:33

the dream

00:57:34--> 00:57:36

and what a dream it would be especially

00:57:36--> 00:57:38

in Muslim minorities, is not to have a

00:57:38--> 00:57:38

masjid,

00:57:39--> 00:57:40

but a masjid that's part of a community

00:57:40--> 00:57:41

center.

00:57:42--> 00:57:44

That you have a basketball court, an indoor

00:57:44--> 00:57:46

swimming pool for the sisters,

00:57:46--> 00:57:47

maybe

00:57:47--> 00:57:48

a library,

00:57:48--> 00:57:51

for the youth with books that no parent

00:57:51--> 00:57:53

has to doubt when their child is in

00:57:53--> 00:57:54

that library and they pick up and read.

00:57:54--> 00:57:56

Books that are above par and the students

00:57:56--> 00:57:59

come to study, and it's a vibrant atmosphere.

00:57:59--> 00:58:01

And people of the same

00:58:02--> 00:58:04

school of thought they're inside here, meaning Muslims

00:58:05--> 00:58:07

studying together so they're part of that community.

00:58:07--> 00:58:09

They have a place of that's a dream.

00:58:09--> 00:58:11

That's ideal. We need to buy the whole

00:58:11--> 00:58:12

street. Right?

00:58:13--> 00:58:15

But let's get the money for just next

00:58:15--> 00:58:16

door.

00:58:16--> 00:58:19

But that's an amazing dream, Wallahi.

00:58:19--> 00:58:21

The dream to have a,

00:58:21--> 00:58:24

a slide park connected to the Masjid

00:58:24--> 00:58:25

that is managed

00:58:26--> 00:58:28

so parents can come and leave their children

00:58:30--> 00:58:32

in the slide park, or the trampoline park,

00:58:32--> 00:58:34

whilst they're in the Masjid studying. Allahu Akbar.

00:58:34--> 00:58:36

What a dream is that. And then they

00:58:36--> 00:58:38

leave, and they take their children, and go

00:58:38--> 00:58:40

home, and the children are happy, and the

00:58:40--> 00:58:42

parents are happy, and the children grow up

00:58:42--> 00:58:44

having happy thoughts about this place.

00:58:45--> 00:58:47

That even on the weekend, subhanallah,

00:58:47--> 00:58:49

you might have a circumstance with the parents,

00:58:49--> 00:58:50

say, come on, we're going to this restaurant.

00:58:50--> 00:58:51

They go, no, no, no. Take us to

00:58:51--> 00:58:52

Darasalam.

00:58:52--> 00:58:54

Lahoo Akbar. Imagine that.

00:58:56--> 00:58:57

We're going to the play factory in Manchester,

00:58:57--> 00:58:59

they're gonna take us to Daras Salaam, it's

00:58:59--> 00:59:01

more fun over there. If we can build

00:59:01--> 00:59:02

to that level, Allahu Akbar, that is a

00:59:02--> 00:59:04

dream, that is my dream. I'm I'm not

00:59:04--> 00:59:06

imposing on the committee here.

00:59:08--> 00:59:11

Our dream, Khalaas, everybody has the dream, alhamdulillah,

00:59:11--> 00:59:12

this is the dream.

00:59:12--> 00:59:15

And obviously managed by people who are custodians,

00:59:16--> 00:59:18

not in fiefdoms obviously. They do that which

00:59:18--> 00:59:20

is better for the community and all segments

00:59:20--> 00:59:23

of society. So the sisters have the ability

00:59:23--> 00:59:26

to, as part of the sunnah, with segregation,

00:59:26--> 00:59:28

look after their health. The students

00:59:29--> 00:59:30

study, and you can have the lessons, and

00:59:30--> 00:59:34

we can call imams, and international speakers, and

00:59:34--> 00:59:36

lecturers, and teachers. It becomes a a place

00:59:36--> 00:59:38

that is intended and aspired.

00:59:39--> 00:59:40

That is the dream.

00:59:40--> 00:59:43

Point is leveraging off each other's strengths. This

00:59:43--> 00:59:45

is from the message of the Quran and

00:59:45--> 00:59:47

Allah says this is Allah's mercy on us

00:59:47--> 00:59:49

that when we, subhanAllah,

00:59:49--> 00:59:50

suppress each other,

00:59:51--> 00:59:53

when we don't make dua for each other,

00:59:53--> 00:59:56

when we mourn the success of our brother

00:59:57--> 00:59:58

or sister

00:59:58--> 00:59:59

and we don't celebrate

01:00:00--> 01:00:01

their success

01:00:01--> 01:00:03

then we are far from the mercy of

01:00:03--> 01:00:05

Allah Allah says this is Allah's mercy upon

01:00:05--> 01:00:08

you that he created you like this And

01:00:08--> 01:00:11

that's why the corporate sphere is not conducive

01:00:11--> 01:00:12

to the Sharia sphere.

01:00:12--> 01:00:14

Because the corporate sphere is about

01:00:15--> 01:00:16

being selfless.

01:00:17--> 01:00:20

The sharia sphere, aafwan. But the corporate sphere

01:00:20--> 01:00:21

is about being selfish.

01:00:22--> 01:00:24

To the extent that you might even take

01:00:24--> 01:00:26

credit of somebody else's work for yourself. Why?

01:00:26--> 01:00:27

Because you want that promotion.

01:00:28--> 01:00:30

And, sir, we have got to be Muslims

01:00:30--> 01:00:32

in every environment that we go into. And

01:00:32--> 01:00:34

if the environment is not successful and we

01:00:34--> 01:00:36

have enough Muslims, let's create our own environment.

01:00:37--> 01:00:38

Our own corporate sphere that will be the

01:00:38--> 01:00:41

Sharia sphere. Why not? Everything is possible

01:00:41--> 01:00:42

if we have a vision,

01:00:43--> 01:00:45

and we recognize that we all have a

01:00:45--> 01:00:47

part to play. And collectively, if we leverage

01:00:47--> 01:00:49

well, we can do great things together.

01:00:49--> 01:00:51

This is from the verse 32. I know

01:00:51--> 01:00:53

doctor Sayid has made note. He's gonna read

01:00:53--> 01:00:54

the tafsir of it tonight.

01:00:55--> 01:00:57

Taib, having a righteous friend circle.

01:00:57--> 01:00:59

Allah subhanahu wa we discussed this, I'm not

01:00:59--> 01:01:00

gonna take it in too much detail, but

01:01:00--> 01:01:02

the verse was recited today that really is

01:01:02--> 01:01:04

fearful. Allah says,

01:01:15--> 01:01:17

bosom buddies, on the day of qiyamah, they

01:01:17--> 01:01:19

will be enemies to each other,

01:01:19--> 01:01:20

except

01:01:20--> 01:01:22

the muttaqun. May Allah make us from the

01:01:22--> 01:01:22

muttaqun.

01:01:24--> 01:01:24

Subhanallah.

01:01:25--> 01:01:28

The pious before us would say, Imam Hassan

01:01:28--> 01:01:29

al Basri, for example, would say,

01:01:30--> 01:01:32

try your best to bring enough friends who

01:01:32--> 01:01:34

are from the people of Taqwa in your

01:01:34--> 01:01:36

life, to save yourself from the implication of

01:01:36--> 01:01:38

this verse on the day of Qiyamah. This

01:01:38--> 01:01:39

is how the people before us used to

01:01:39--> 01:01:40

read these ayats.

01:01:40--> 01:01:42

That Allah said, the only people who will

01:01:42--> 01:01:44

not be enemies on the day of qiyamah

01:01:44--> 01:01:47

or the muttaqoon, immediately they started making friends

01:01:47--> 01:01:48

with the muttaqoon.

01:01:48--> 01:01:50

You see someone who's righteous, you love them

01:01:50--> 01:01:51

for the sake of Allah, and you want

01:01:51--> 01:01:52

to try and bring them into your life,

01:01:52--> 01:01:54

or you be a part of their life.

01:01:54--> 01:01:56

And that's why brothers and sisters in Islam,

01:01:57--> 01:01:59

this brotherhood and sisterhood needs to carry on

01:01:59--> 01:02:00

in Shawwal and beyond.

01:02:01--> 01:02:02

It cannot be part and parcel of just

01:02:02--> 01:02:03

Ramadan,

01:02:03--> 01:02:05

and then we forget about each other until

01:02:05--> 01:02:06

next Ramadan.

01:02:07--> 01:02:09

Iman has to unite us, not just Ramadan.

01:02:09--> 01:02:12

Ramadan should escalate the strength of our unity.

01:02:13--> 01:02:15

It shouldn't be bringing us together for the

01:02:15--> 01:02:15

first time.

01:02:16--> 01:02:18

And 11 months of the year, we don't

01:02:18--> 01:02:19

see each other.

01:02:20--> 01:02:22

And that's why again a community center can

01:02:22--> 01:02:25

aid some of these ills. Taib.

01:02:25--> 01:02:26

Then Surat Al Duqan.

01:02:27--> 01:02:30

Surat Al Duqan, a Maqki Surah, 59 verses,

01:02:30--> 01:02:33

and it's translated as the smoke.

01:02:33--> 01:02:34

Subhanallah.

01:02:36--> 01:02:38

And it's named as the smoke, and Allah

01:02:38--> 01:02:40

knows best, as a previous threat

01:02:41--> 01:02:43

to the Mushrikoon of Makkah, the idolaters.

01:02:44--> 01:02:47

And it's in reference to severe drought and

01:02:47--> 01:02:47

famine,

01:02:48--> 01:02:50

which affects a people to an extent,

01:02:51--> 01:02:54

that they experience such extreme hunger when they

01:02:54--> 01:02:56

look at the atmosphere, it looks like smoke.

01:02:56--> 01:02:57

Subhanallah.

01:02:58--> 01:02:59

Subhanallah. So Allah

01:03:00--> 01:03:01

is teaching us something. May Allah save us

01:03:01--> 01:03:02

from this famine.

01:03:02--> 01:03:03

Ameen.

01:03:04--> 01:03:04

Now

01:03:05--> 01:03:07

there are some narrations about its virtue, but

01:03:07--> 01:03:09

all these narrations are not free from weakness

01:03:09--> 01:03:11

as per the testimony of the scholars of

01:03:11--> 01:03:13

hadith. Some have said or some narrations say

01:03:13--> 01:03:15

if you read Surah Al Dukhan on a

01:03:15--> 01:03:17

Friday, you will wake up forgiven. Or or

01:03:17--> 01:03:18

if you read Surah Al Duhan,

01:03:18--> 01:03:20

on the night of Jum'ah, sorry on the

01:03:20--> 01:03:22

night of Jum'ah, not on a Friday, on

01:03:22--> 01:03:24

the night of Jum'ah, then 70,000

01:03:24--> 01:03:26

angels will seek forgiveness for you. There are

01:03:26--> 01:03:27

these reports,

01:03:27--> 01:03:29

but the scholars of hadith have said all

01:03:29--> 01:03:31

these reports are not free from weakness, and

01:03:31--> 01:03:31

Allah knows best.

01:03:32--> 01:03:35

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, he mentions Surah

01:03:36--> 01:03:38

Al Qadr in Surah Al Duhan.

01:03:38--> 01:03:40

Many people only think

01:03:41--> 01:03:43

the night of power and decree and virtue,

01:03:43--> 01:03:45

and why do I translate it as this?

01:03:45--> 01:03:48

It's only in Inna and Zalnahoo Filaylatul Qadr.

01:03:48--> 01:03:49

Now it's also in Surat Duhan.

01:03:59--> 01:04:01

Indeed we were to warn mankind.

01:04:02--> 01:04:04

So the Quran came down during Laylatul Qadr,

01:04:05--> 01:04:06

and this blessed night in this verse is

01:04:06--> 01:04:09

referring to Laylatul Qadr. Here Allah calls it

01:04:09--> 01:04:11

blessed, and that's why when I translated it,

01:04:11--> 01:04:13

I translated it as the night of power,

01:04:13--> 01:04:14

the night of virtue,

01:04:15--> 01:04:15

blessedness,

01:04:16--> 01:04:17

and the night of decree,

01:04:17--> 01:04:18

because

01:04:18--> 01:04:20

Allah says in Sura Duhan,

01:04:22--> 01:04:24

on this night Allah makes distinct

01:04:25--> 01:04:27

every precise matter, meaning the qadr of the

01:04:27--> 01:04:29

year is released to the angels who need

01:04:29--> 01:04:30

to know about this year.

01:04:31--> 01:04:33

The food we're gonna get this year, who's

01:04:33--> 01:04:35

going to pass away, events that are related

01:04:35--> 01:04:37

to this year, the angels that are responsible

01:04:37--> 01:04:38

for these deliverables,

01:04:39--> 01:04:40

they are made,

01:04:42--> 01:04:43

or knowledge is given to them of these

01:04:43--> 01:04:46

events for the year on this night. So

01:04:46--> 01:04:48

layna Zurqadr is is more than just a

01:04:48--> 01:04:50

night that is better than a 1000 months.

01:04:50--> 01:04:52

It is also the night in which Allah

01:04:52--> 01:04:54

releases the decrees for the year. So it's

01:04:54--> 01:04:56

a night of power because it's better than

01:04:56--> 01:04:58

a 1000 months. It's a night of virtue

01:04:58--> 01:04:59

because it's laylat, humbaraka,

01:05:00--> 01:05:02

and it is also the night of decree

01:05:02--> 01:05:05

because it's feaha yufraqu kullu amrin haki.

01:05:05--> 01:05:07

That's why I translated like this. Some people

01:05:08--> 01:05:09

might have why does he use this this

01:05:09--> 01:05:12

translation? It's based on corrective reading of the

01:05:12--> 01:05:13

verses in the Quran. And I don't know

01:05:13--> 01:05:15

if you've noticed this, subhanAllah.

01:05:16--> 01:05:18

Have you seen in the Quran this connection

01:05:18--> 01:05:19

between the Quran

01:05:20--> 01:05:21

and the night? The Quran

01:05:22--> 01:05:24

and the night. The Quran and the night.

01:05:31--> 01:05:33

In Suratul Tuhan, laylat mubarakah,

01:05:34--> 01:05:36

a blessed night. Do you see this? Night

01:05:36--> 01:05:37

in Quran, night in Quran.

01:05:38--> 01:05:40

In the Quran al Fajri

01:05:40--> 01:05:42

kana mashhuda, the recitation of the Quran al

01:05:42--> 01:05:45

Fajr, meaning before sunrise, is a witness recitation.

01:05:46--> 01:05:48

We see this. This is just a FYI

01:05:48--> 01:05:50

for you guys. Then we have Surah Jathiyah,

01:05:50--> 01:05:52

we'll end it now insha'Allah, very soon. A

01:05:52--> 01:05:54

Meccan Surah 37

01:05:54--> 01:05:55

verses

01:05:55--> 01:05:57

named Jathiyah based on the verse that describes

01:05:57--> 01:05:58

the ferociousness of

01:05:58--> 01:05:59

the day of Qiyam.

01:06:00--> 01:06:01

Jatiyah, subhanAllah.

01:06:02--> 01:06:03

Jatiyah

01:06:03--> 01:06:05

refers to or named this because of the

01:06:05--> 01:06:07

ferociousness of the day of Qiyamah.

01:06:10--> 01:06:13

Allah says you will see every nation kneeling

01:06:13--> 01:06:16

on the day of qiyamah, out of fear.

01:06:16--> 01:06:19

That qiyamah will be so ferocious it will

01:06:19--> 01:06:21

break people down to their knees, and not

01:06:21--> 01:06:24

just people, nations in their entirety.

01:06:25--> 01:06:27

That's why I said the Maqan verses are

01:06:27--> 01:06:28

potent in iman building.

01:06:29--> 01:06:30

They're potent.

01:06:31--> 01:06:33

Allah is describing Qiyamah as a as a

01:06:33--> 01:06:35

imagine a nation, imagine a superpower,

01:06:36--> 01:06:38

has a billions of people, it has over

01:06:38--> 01:06:41

a 1000000000 people living in it. And you

01:06:41--> 01:06:43

find a 1000000000 people on their knees, and

01:06:43--> 01:06:44

this is just from your lifetime.

01:06:45--> 01:06:46

What about nations before?

01:06:47--> 01:06:49

Subhan Allah. So Allah says this is how

01:06:50--> 01:06:52

will be, and this is why the surah

01:06:52--> 01:06:52

is named Jathia.

01:06:53--> 01:06:56

Very quickly, chosen verses. Do not worship your

01:06:56--> 01:06:59

desires or your cultures worship Allah. Allah says

01:07:02--> 01:07:03

Have you seen the one who takes his

01:07:03--> 01:07:04

God

01:07:04--> 01:07:06

or who takes his desires as his God?

01:07:06--> 01:07:07

Allah

01:07:09--> 01:07:11

says the one who worships their desires, worships

01:07:11--> 01:07:13

their cultures, worships their whims, worships their fancy,

01:07:13--> 01:07:14

this is worship.

01:07:14--> 01:07:16

Allah is describing it as worship. You choose

01:07:16--> 01:07:18

to follow your desire and not Allah. You

01:07:18--> 01:07:20

have taken your desire as your god.

01:07:20--> 01:07:22

So we need to be wary of this.

01:07:22--> 01:07:23

Number 2.

01:07:32--> 01:07:34

What is the reason of revelation for this?

01:07:34--> 01:07:35

In fact, we'll stop here

01:07:36--> 01:07:36

because

01:07:38--> 01:07:39

I normally have 12 o'clock as the cutoff.

01:07:41--> 01:07:43

Allah says, oh, there's a reason of revelation.

01:07:43--> 01:07:46

It is said that Umar ibn Khabab radiAllahu

01:07:46--> 01:07:47

an,

01:07:47--> 01:07:49

he was insulted

01:07:50--> 01:07:51

by somebody

01:07:53--> 01:07:53

before Hijra.

01:07:55--> 01:07:56

And Umar

01:07:57--> 01:08:00

intended to reveal himself, meaning redeem himself

01:08:01--> 01:08:02

because of that insult physically.

01:08:04--> 01:08:04

So Allah

01:08:05--> 01:08:06

revealed this verse,

01:08:08--> 01:08:10

Oh Muhammad, say to those who have believed,

01:08:10--> 01:08:11

Omar was a believer now.

01:08:15--> 01:08:18

That they should forgive those who do not

01:08:18--> 01:08:21

have any anticipation and expectation for the days

01:08:21--> 01:08:22

of Allah.

01:08:22--> 01:08:23

Meaning, the

01:08:24--> 01:08:24

day

01:08:25--> 01:08:25

of

01:08:26--> 01:08:26

qiyamah.

01:08:27--> 01:08:29

So that Allah may recompense the people for

01:08:29--> 01:08:30

what they used to add.

01:08:30--> 01:08:32

So here the Muslims are being told to

01:08:32--> 01:08:33

be benevolent

01:08:33--> 01:08:37

upon those disbelievers who might have insulted them

01:08:37--> 01:08:37

before.

01:08:38--> 01:08:40

Now, earlier we spoke about

01:08:40--> 01:08:42

how the pious before us used to read

01:08:42--> 01:08:44

the Quran. 1 of the sheikhs, and this

01:08:44--> 01:08:45

is the last story I'll end on,

01:08:46--> 01:08:49

He mentions to us someone from our time

01:08:49--> 01:08:50

that he spoke

01:08:51--> 01:08:53

to and he said that he visited a

01:08:53--> 01:08:54

70 year old person

01:08:55--> 01:08:56

and this person

01:08:57--> 01:08:58

is telling the Sheikh,

01:08:59--> 01:09:01

telling this person that when I was younger

01:09:01--> 01:09:02

I was put into a cell, I was

01:09:02--> 01:09:04

locked up in a cell

01:09:04--> 01:09:06

with somebody else because of a dispute that

01:09:06--> 01:09:07

we had.

01:09:08--> 01:09:10

I was very young. This is decades ago.

01:09:10--> 01:09:11

We were very young.

01:09:11--> 01:09:13

And the other person was wrong, and I

01:09:13--> 01:09:15

was right, and I had my evidences with

01:09:15--> 01:09:15

me.

01:09:16--> 01:09:17

When it went in front of the judge,

01:09:17--> 01:09:18

I was confident

01:09:19--> 01:09:21

that I was right and he was wrong

01:09:21--> 01:09:22

and he's going to get punished. The judge

01:09:22--> 01:09:24

will decree the punishment.

01:09:25--> 01:09:27

And he says this person, he was a

01:09:27--> 01:09:30

difficult person. He lacked maturity. He lacked reasoning.

01:09:30--> 01:09:31

He was just one of those, and he

01:09:31--> 01:09:32

wasn't practicing.

01:09:33--> 01:09:34

And he says

01:09:34--> 01:09:36

that as for me, I would try and

01:09:36--> 01:09:37

wake him up for salah

01:09:38--> 01:09:39

even though we had this issue, but he

01:09:39--> 01:09:40

would not.

01:09:41--> 01:09:43

He goes then before Fajr one day, I

01:09:43--> 01:09:45

woke up, I made wudu,

01:09:45--> 01:09:46

and I started praying.

01:09:47--> 01:09:50

And Allah inspired me to read from Surajah.

01:09:51--> 01:09:53

So I'm reading Surajah, yeah, and I come

01:09:53--> 01:09:54

across this verse.

01:10:00--> 01:10:01

That's, oh Muhammad,

01:10:01--> 01:10:03

say to the believers,

01:10:03--> 01:10:07

forgive those who who disbelieve, who don't desire

01:10:07--> 01:10:08

the days of Allah.

01:10:09--> 01:10:11

And he says, I broke down

01:10:11--> 01:10:12

crying. He said, Subhanallah.

01:10:14--> 01:10:15

Allah revealed to Muhammad

01:10:15--> 01:10:17

to say to the believers this,

01:10:18--> 01:10:20

and this is with regards to a disbeliever.

01:10:21--> 01:10:22

What about me and a believer?

01:10:23--> 01:10:24

He says I became very emotionally

01:10:25--> 01:10:27

I was consumed emotionally,

01:10:27--> 01:10:30

and I decided to drop the case

01:10:30--> 01:10:32

after that salah and forgive

01:10:32--> 01:10:33

my brother.

01:10:43--> 01:10:46

From what was recited today. But inshallah, in

01:10:46--> 01:10:47

what we have shared is a means of

01:10:47--> 01:10:49

moving us in the right direction. I love

01:10:49--> 01:10:50

you all for the sake of Allah.

01:10:51--> 01:10:52

May Allah

01:10:52--> 01:10:55

forgive our past, inspire our futures, accept our

01:10:55--> 01:10:56

Ramadan,

01:10:56--> 01:10:58

bless what remains, make us from the people

01:10:58--> 01:11:00

who witness the night of power and decree

01:11:00--> 01:11:02

and virtue, and make us

01:11:02--> 01:11:04

Ameen You Rabbi Aalameen.

01:11:02--> 01:11:04

Ameen You Rabbi Aalameen.
